Debt collectors

Disgusted in a letter addressed to my late brother's estate which is threatening legal proceedings on behalf of Virgin Media.
As is very evident from the letter addresses to 'the estate of' the person in question is deceased and it is therefore of no surprise that the nominal sum requested has been 'failed, refused or neglected to be paid'.
At no point during a phone call to virgin media to inform them of the death did they inform us that there was an outstanding balance, on the contrary, they helpfully replied that they did not even require the box returned to them.
My guess is that the 'bill' accrued is either due to breaking contract (due to death) or a short lag between informing bank and virgin media, in which case it's hardly like free services were enjoyed in the interim. No bill sent to the residence after they were informed of death - just a debt collectors letter. Awful company
