Contract not being honoured.

I signed up for Virgin media online for £28.99 a month, they sent the paperwork through with pre contract all for that price then when it came to paying them they stated it's £66 a month.

I started a chat with them on my Virgin media help and support and they said that didn't go through but they can give me a deal of £55 a month but won't honour the £28.99.

Tried to call them but couldn't get through to a person. Just batted around bot to bot.

This is reported on here so often that it's hard to believe it isn't deliberate.  They offer an attractive deal, and after you sign up they push you onto something else.

If you haven't agreed to something different you don't have to pay for it. Just tell them you don't want it and go somewhere else for your broadband

Only problem is I agreed to the £28.99 they sent it out set up the direct debit then changed the price once I got the internet.

Trying to get them to correct this but if they refuse I'll have to go through ombudsman which is all just a pain that I'd rather not have.

Consider if you are still under the 14 day cooling off period and if so use it.

Did you agree to the new price, either in writing or by phone? If not you are not bound to pay it.

How long ago were you connected? If it's less than 14 days you can cancel without any further discussion.

  • Called up to cancel was passed around to 4 different people but eventually they rectified the original deal so I'm paying the amount agreed.

Very frustrating situation, hopefully all is well now. Thanks for the advice guys.
