Can't understand my first bill

Hi all.

Signed up with Virgin about a week ago and this is what it says re. my first bill:

  • First month: 29th August - 27th September (£26.50)
  • A month in advance: 28th September - 27th October (£62.00)

____

Now that £62.00 figure is from the first month onwards when my 18-month contract finishes in February 2026.

Why is it showing as if I'll be paying that when I'm *in* contract? 😦

Thanks.

  • Hi Conrad2025

Thank you for your post, welcome to Virgin Media and the Community Forums!

Hmm, that is particularly strange. Are you viewing the breakdown of your charges in the billing tab of My Virgin Media? If so, you should be able to see each individual charge under the section for 28 September - 27 October. You should be able to see the discount you have included in your package there, too. It's possible that there's some one-off charges there for installing the services which has increased the price a bit. If it's not showing, can you please confirm if it is showing for your first month?

Don't worry, we will get to the bottom of this.😊

      Hi Beth.

As far as I know, there were no extra costs re. any set-up fees or installation charges.

Those figures I posted were from my contract which I downloaded.

Also on the billing page, it shows:

      "Credit £47.00:

      Estimated as of 28th August

      Bill date:

      11th September

      Payment date:

      2nd October

      Billing period:

      28th August - 27th October

We’ll collect your payment on or after 2nd October by Direct Debit

Not sure where that credit of £47 is coming from. I do realise Virgin take a month's payment in advance.

I initially signed up with the package that was £26.50 a month. I didn't know it would be this complicated to be honest.

Do you know exactly how much I should be paying for the first 3 months?

        Hi Conrad2025

The credit will likely be a welcome discount you're receiving as part of your package. Sometimes, we offered one-pff welcome credits to new customers, but it seems too much of an odd number for it to be the latter in your case.

Without having access to your account from here, I'm afraid that I can't confirm what you should be paying, but I will be happy to check for you.

I've dropped you a private message.
