Hi I'm just wondering if I could get some information if it's likely my street will be cabled in the near future? I noticed there's some cables being installed a street over and further back from there.
I've attached an image to show where they're being installed, we live between Wardle St and Sandal St and are all currently connected to an old bt cabinet and community funding an upgrade would cost us £5k through openreach even though there are fibre enabled cabinets within 20 metres and we live walking distance to the centre of manchester.
Hi, I've had a look to see if Virgin is available in the area I'm moving to using Think Broadband's maps and it seems there is cable but no availability. I called up to see if there plans to install Virgin there but the person on the phone (who was quite rude and unhelpful..) just said no plans.
We have a large VM expansion going on at the moment locally (Allington, Maidstone), the centre of the works is 1km away as the crow flies and 1.2km following roads. 2 or 3 roads over from us has been cabled, although in some areas one side of a road has and the other hasn't - and looking at the planned roadworks for the next 12 months, all the VM planned works are now moving away from the areas that have been cabled, which includes us...
Wondering if its possible to see if our road is likely to be cabled, it doesn't look good with the already cabled roads nearby but no planned works that I can see. I have registered on the cable my street site.
Currently have Openreach FTTC as the only option at 20-25mbps down and 4-5mbps up.

Just checking if there's any update regarding this, the Allington project seems to be coming to an end soon, the main welfare unit roadworks show an end date of the 20th Nov, and the last of the planned works (for the next 12 months) where cables are being layed are also ending in the next few weeks.
As you can see from the image below, the vast majority of Maidstone has VM coverage, with the main blackspot being the Allington area, which is now being expanded to - the green line area, maps haven't been updated yet. The Welfare unit for the project is located at the red dot for this project.
The red lined area is the last area in Maidstone with no planned expansion as far as I can tell, and you can guess where our house is!!!
If there's any news on this area being on the list for expansion that would be great, thanks
Hi - moving house shortly in village north of Cambridge, and annoyingly the VM service stops 4 houses before ours. Any chance one of the kind VM people could check the possibility of extending the lines?
There is a lot of virgin cabling roadworks happening right now in the EH33 Tranent area. Is there a way to know which properties likely to be getting virgin. I registered some time ago our interest in getting virgin cable and not sure if I should start to.be getting excited or not. Is there a way to check if there are plans to run cables to my property? I tried.the postcode lookup on website for.different postcodes across EH33 and they all say no virgin media service yet.
Its been 5 years that I have been trying to get some positive information on VM broadband services in our area but every time its a straight no. My neighbour has it and my closed (closed small street) has no connection for VM. I am sure its not a lot of work for VM to provide services to our 11 houses on the street but also have no information as to when they plan, if they have any plans, to do it. Could someone check again if my street is possibly being cabled at some point, i.e. Shervington Grove, Luton (edge of Montrose Avenue that has all Cable services available)?
Every time I contact VM they ask me to call back next year.
Thanks for posting sohail_imitiaz and welcome to the forum, we're happy to have you here.
Although we don't have access to the roll out of our services over the last 3 years we have been going through the process of expanding out network to reach even more homes across the UK.
If you haven't already, we'd recommend registering here virg.in/checker for updates on our services and expansion work. Please feel free to pass this onto any neighbors you have that may also wish to take our services to register their interest too.
Thanks for your prompt response. I have already registered by interest for the last few years and nothing has come back and hence I ended up here. I will get my neighbours to register their interest too but it would be good to know what are your plans for expansion in Luton specially in our area in near future. To be honest, all other service providers are absolute Rubbish (to say the least and I am being polite here).
Thanks for getting in touch Charliegordon, have you checked the cable my street link, to see if you can get our services? Service checker virg.in/checker.
If you've already tried this, let me know and I can take a few details and get this looked into for you.
I'm wondering if there is a process for extending services from a cabled neighbourhood to a rural property 300m away from the nearest serviced house? Not looking to wait 5 years for VM to do something, but rather am willing to pay out-of-pocket for a cable to be strung and connected to existing infrastructure 300m down the road immediately. I don't want to get into location detail at the moment as we're looking to possibly offer on the house in question. Just looking for a general idea of whether something like this is even possible and perhaps getting contact information on how to get something like this started.
Welcome to our Community and thank you so much for your first post.
It has been known for this to be done in the past; however, the process can be expensive and take time.
The first stage would be to ensure that we have the correct permissions and wayleave from the landowner. Once we have that, we can arrange for technicians to attend the area to see if we have the availability and correct infrastructure in place to extend any cables.
Unfortunately there would be no guarantee - even if there are cables that are close to the property, we may not have the space to take any further customers on at this stage.
If you would like us to have a quick check of the local area and the infrastructure, please do pop us a reply to let us know and we can pop you a Private Message to take some address information from you.
Is there someone i can PM my postcode to, to see if I'm likely to be cabled up at anypoint soon. Pretty sure the rest of the street is, just seem to be missing a few buildings towards the end.
Is anyone able to check if my area will be cabled in 2020? My postcode is NE12 6AF. We currently have the grand choice of BT or no one and the service is terrible!
Are there still people offering to check with VM to find out how the Cable My Street plans are coming along?
I post on here about every six months, and generally somebody PM's me for my details offering to check, I just wanted to check if this could still be done ....
