Awaiting retentions call

Hi I gave my 30 days notice end of July & have done this for a few years to get a better deal & always had a call back within a week or so from your retentions staff who can give the best deals & have always got an acceptable offer, which has been taken up. I am currently due to leave on August 29th. Not had any contact from anyone yet, which is strange, could you facilitate this please, as always had a great result when posting any issues on here previously. This household has been a customer for 30 years & spent about £50k with you, which is a lot of money tbh. It was in my dad’s name up until he sadly passed away 18 months ago, so I took it over as lived here too & paid the bill anyway. I am quite angry & disappointed tbh as it seems that amount of time & expenditure & being a loyal paying customer doesn’t count for much. Until we saw Martin Lewis show about retentions we just keep on paying & paying top whack for the service for years. Please help with this my account number with you is [REMOVED] & my mobile is on it. If you need to PM me regarding this feel free. Thanks in anticipation of your assistance in getting this rectified.

    You can't negotiate your contract through this forum. You'll need to phone in and have some competing prices to hand.  VM don't recognise loyalty.

  • I don’t want to negotiate through here my friend just for someone to maybe nudge retentions into calling me to sort it via phone.

      Hi snooperoon, welcome back to our forums and sorry to hear you are disappointed in the deals offered. We want to assure you that we value our long standing customers and you can see some great deals here. Unfortunately we are unable to facilitate calls to our retentions team however you can call our team on 0345 454 1111 who can best assist. They will do their best to provide the best suited package deal.

      Thanks,

  • Ok thanks for that am even more disappointed now tbh really poor service

      People I know (and there have been some mentions of it on here too) have said the call backs they received have been in the very last days of the 30 day notice period in recent times.

      There has never been any guarantee of a retentions call back after cancelling and recent topics on here seem to suggest it is hit and miss if it happens even for long-standing customers. Having marketing options turned on in 'My VM' is also mentioned in topics to allow the call to happen.

      The thing is this, look what you have already posted;

      “done this for a few years to get a better deal & always had a call back within a week”.

      OK fine but it’s been a negotiating tactic hasn't it, you had no intention to leave did you?

      "Hi I gave my 30 days notice end of July”

      When you cancelled, did you have an alternative plan in place, an alternative supplier, or did you just assume that VM would be on the phone ASAP offering a cheaper deal?

      “loyalty...blah...blah...blah", completely irrelevant.

      I will tell you what I think; I think they have called your bluff, they have looked at the record and decided that ‘sponnerrron’ does this every time, but they actually won’t leave, so this time offer them absolutely nothing. No retention call back, because it’s very likely that they will come crawling back wanting to stay and offer them a more expensive deal - trade it or leave it. The clock is ticking!

      Hypothetically, be honest what will you do if they simply don’t call you and allow the contract to terminate? Have you priced up and checked alternative suppliers, if not then I would get onto it quite fast as you now have less than two weeks before VM cut you off completely!

      It’s all a game of bluff and counter-bluff, poker, if you like. But what cards do you hold?
