Hub 5 Firmware Upgrade
Had a Firmware upgrade pushed out this morning at 00:17 Service was resumed about 6 minutes later according to my Router emails.
Now at LG-RDK_7.6.15-2306.5
No idea what the changes are however as I use modem mode.

Looks like my Hub 5 has been given new firmware : LG-RDK_8.10.26-2309.3
I can confirm that 2.5GB port now works, but cannot determine the speed!
using a 2.5 Gbit Managed smart switch 8 port which has EEE off by default, plugged into the 2.5 Gbit port. Did this back on the 4th March. I also have a 16 port managed smart switch plugged into a 1 Gbit port.
Unsure if it's related to the problems people have had in this thread, but I had an issue which started 3 weeks ago when my package changed from Volt 350 to Volt 250. I inadvertently plugged my network switch into the 2.5Gbps port after power cycling the router on the day of the change (it was previously connect to a standard 1Gbps port).
802.3az/EEE is turned off on the switch (a D-Link DGS-1100-08P) however the Hub 5 only connected to the switch at 100Mbps via the 2.5Gbps port. It took me a while to track down why my connection wasn't working at the excpected speed. Switching the cable back to a 1Gbps port on the Hub 5 fixed things for me.
My Hub 5 is in modem mode and is on firmware LG-RDK_7.6.20-2306.5
Why do you have a switch directly connected to the HUB 5 when in modem mode?
Only one device, being the switch, would be allocated an IP address when in modem mode, so unsure how this setup ever worked.
It's a smart switch, the Hub 5 is on a VLAN that's connected via the switch to the WAN port of my router in another room.

A new Hub 5 was installed last saturday (18/05/24) which came along with the firmware version LG-RDK_7.6.20-2306.5 already present. I have been experiencing the inability for DHCP assignment and or static address to be functional on devices connected through my qnap qsw-2104 unmanaged switch.(Although the devices are listed in router management interface as connected to Ethernet Port 4 and showing a link speed of 2500Mbps.
After a week of communication with the installation engineer and his manager still no resolution has been found.
In fact the issue itself is seemingly not widely know or admitted to, I have mentioned the postings by you all here on the community forum but apparently this issue is still under the radar!!
How can we raise the priority of this issue further with VM network operations?
As I understand this fault is related to connected devices which support EEE (Energy Efficient Ethernet Interfaces) If possible would someone with additional information on the particulars relating to this issue please post along side so we can raise the awareness and hopefully get a fix sometime soon.
I really do appreciate the community effort.

Their asses are covered as long as the correct speed reached the router / hub.
I have posted several times how to resolve this, but you need certain equipment,
ie a managed switch so you can turn EEE off, you will also need to change the settings on your network device & reset the Hub using the Virginmedia app.

Anyone else got LG-RDK_7.6.20-2306.5? Config file rolled out 30th April. Hub began flashing green, tried to reboot once overnight in the early hours of the 1st but the firmware did not change. It has now applied the config file overnight today. According to trusty Ziggo who actually provide info on the firmware updates, it's not doing much but I've not had time to test the 2.5G port yet.
I am pretty sure I'm in the early deployment groups, which are likely quite small.

I think Virginmedia does not expect home customers to be using a wired network, hence why they are not offering support or are interested of providing a fix & it probaly affects a limited number of customers. Reading some of the comments people are not even understanding the problem. There is a fix at a cost, therefore thier thinking might be, if people have already paid out, they might spend another £60 to cure it.
They are more interested in their Hub 5 WiFi Guarantee, offering signal-boosting mesh WiFi Pods (if needed). When tested via their app, showing less than 30 Mbit/sec in every room.
Firmware LG-RDK_7.6.15-2306.5 for the HUB 5, is breaking the 2.5G port. The 1G ports still works at up to 1,000 Mbits ie 960 on Speedtest.
If you want the avertised 1130 you need 2.5G devices, including a 2.5G Managed switch, EEE off by default. which gets around 1140.
Use the virgin recommended Sam knows speed website to check. You need the virgin link for this.
It does not matter if your using Normal or Modem mode, both are affected.
Basically EEE is Energy Efficient Ethernet, which puts connected (wired) devices into low pwoer state when not used for a period of time. Devices are not comming back out of this state. This setting saved sevral GW/Hr when rolled out in the US.
By using a Managed switch which enables users to turn EEE off and on, you can control this. I leave mine turned off. Or turn off EEE on your network device if connected direct to the 2.5G port.
Virgin do not support user purchased devices connected to the bub.

They probably weren't aware this was an enabled feature in the first place!
It affect Hubs in all modes. The change EEE is enabled by default. Below is what it is supposed to do, when it was rolled out in the US it saved power companies several GW / HR in draw.

well i sent my unmanaged switch back got a managed switch zyxel1250 set eee to disabled , disabled eee on my 10g nic on pc, can browse internet all day and download but as soon as a game goes on its back to disconnecting and resetting, even disconnects plugged in a 1g port router to switch, looks like im sending this back too ! i give up, unless im missing something?
about this firmware update, are they actually gonna fix this issue?,for us non managed switch users? i dont think they are, how many months have they been at it ? 1st i contact them and they know nothing about it a month ago, they come and replace my hub 5 same problem, even the engineers said they dont know about this issue, i showed them this. how hard is it for them to roll back firmware?. you upgrade package to 1g and a 2.5 port which was selling point to me, and for my nas, a month ago and at no point did they say oh by the way its broken,but were working on it. we need more updates, surely they must know the issue by now, wish i never got it now, my new 2.5g switch is useless. if they had said i would saved my money instead of upgrading my network
I suffered at speeds of 960mbits for 18 months, not realising what was causing my bottleneck. I had got a 16 port GIG switch that was supposed to be able to operate at full Duplex at 2 GIG. Not being a network nerd, I have never understood how this is meant to work. But after talking with some Nerds on Discord, they suggested getting a 2.5G Switch which worked for a few days after a HUB exchange old firmware. Then it updated and the 2.5 port stopped working. Yes they did try rolling out an update to some users, I was one of them. I tried it with the unmanaged 2.5G switch & a Netgear Nighthawk Router AX12 with a 2.5G ethernet port & 12 channel 1G WiFi and it made no difference, I reported my findings. 4 hours later I was rolled back to the current firmware. I then had to do a Full Hub Reset via the app.
If you just purchased a 2.5 GIG switch where did you get it from? Send it back and exchange it for a Managed 2.5 GIG switch they are not that more expensive. The SODOLA 9 port 2.5G Easy Web Managed Switch is currently £99 on Amazon (£10 off) 8x 2.5G ports and a 10G port (which if you have suitable cabling and connection on your NAS you could use this internally), comes with EEE off by default.
My network & connection 1100 to 1160 down, has worked perfectly since I changed to this on 8th March 2024. Speed is dependant on the site you test with.
I also got a TP-Link TL-SG116E Easy-Smart 16 port 1G managed switch which I have plugged into the 2nd port on the Hub which I purchased for £64.99 (currently £79.51 rrp £89.99) that I use for slower traffic. ie webcams, TV, slower PCs, WiFi hub.
