Hub 5 Firmware Upgrade
Had a Firmware upgrade pushed out this morning at 00:17 Service was resumed about 6 minutes later according to my Router emails.
Now at LG-RDK_7.6.15-2306.5
No idea what the changes are however as I use modem mode.

The boot config was changed too while on the newer firmware as another attempt to resolve, but still didn't work. Switching hub off and on, pinhole resets, whatever was attempted on the new version failed to fix the 2.5G socket.
I've been put back on the previous version (LG-RDK_6.9.35-2302.6) and all is back to normal.
My Hub is still on the new firmware version and is now causing additional problems: the hub reboots randomly each day, and my VM Connect app thinks I’m not at home, so shows no info. I’ve requested that the firmware is rolled back to the version BEFORE this screw up, and to stop using customers as guinea pigs.
I do BT trials, EE trials, and various others non broadband related such as Anker. I did a fair bit of work with Sky on their SR203 hub when it had DHCP issues. In all cases trial participants are required to opt in and are made aware of how the trial may impact reliability. Often is the case that where intermittency is expected they’ll provision a second line to allow for the trial without impacting the main service (BT do this a lot). Did virgin not engage with you? Surely it wasn’t just rolled out without your knowledge?! I’m expecting you to say it was - wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest at this stage.
I was offered the new firmware, yes, but on the understanding it fixed the issue, not to try out something they could easily test first by themselves. The new update seems to have caused further problems. I don't see any benefit of either the LG-RDK_7.6.15-2306.5, or attempted fix version LG-RDK_8.10.9-2309.3. Until a proper fix is found, anyone who complains should be able to have the firmware rolled back to the previous version to LG-RDK_7.6.15-2306.5 (I don't know what that is specifically). It's clearly possible to have different hubs on different versions, based on the hub MAC address, which is how the latest version was applied to those offered the new version.
I'm not willing to purchase yet another 2.5G switch to work around this (managed vs unmanaged) as big-luap did. I only bought the 2.5G switch I currently have to take advantage of the faster speed, since I already had a 1G switch working perfectly fine before that.
Given the interest this topic has gained, this does not come across as a controlled test.
Are VM just pushing out unannounced firmware updates and waiting to see
if random customers notice and post positive or negative comments ?They contact me by message to ask If i would participate in test Firmware Upgrades. Which I did. But as I had purchased a Managed switch (EEE off by default) in the mean time when they rolled me back. My 2.5 GIG port has worked since then. nb I have kept a record of the better sites to use for testing.
I think I was the first to spot the issues with EEE and haven’t had any test firmware, or contact. I just got told the package is gigabit and I’m wrong to suggest it can go 2.5 by their darling customer care team. So yeah I’d call it an uncontrolled test 🙂
Just use the recommended Virgin test site if the internal is not as fast as the external there is a problem. Which may be your internal Kit. Do you have a PC with a 2.5 GIG port, can it connect by cable to the Hub 5? Any Switches need to operate at 2.5 GIG!
After trying a modified version, I was changed back to this version at 20:20 on 20240308 After a failed reset at 18:00 Did another successful reset at 20:40

20240309 17:01 Now been online for 19 hrs 44 mins No Diconnects in that period.
nb: I have a Connection Monitor in my Browser. ookla Speedtest, best site for over 1 GIG YouFibre London.
LG-RDK_7.6.15-2306.5 Turns on EEE power saving mode, it also affects the 2.5 Gbit port if you use any unmanged switches. Managed switch have the ability to control the EEE switch, the one I purchased came with it off by default

the trial update has not improved things.
Same for me - have been updated to firmware version LG-RDK_8.10.9-2309.3, switched back to 2.5G and all broken again. So back on the 1G again.
08.03.2024 20:09 they switch me back to LG-RDK_7.6.15-2306.5
I had tried to do a Hub reset via the app at 18:00 it failed, Tried again at 20:40 and it completed.
21:15 Moved my cable from Nighthawk / Hub 5 1 Gig port to the Hub 5 2.5 Port, Managed switch with EEE disabled, has been work correctly since.
Wilst doing the test my location switched to Maidstone, Reverted back to Warwick when the fimware was changed back. Downloaded the results from ookla into a spreadsheet as I wanted to identify which hadled over 1GIG tests best.
Maybe that cheap Managed switch is faulty? along with the hub being a problem too

1 month on and still not resolved. Can you at least let us know what's being done to resolve this? Is there any ETA for a possible FW fix that doesn't involve spending £100+ (or £40 in big pauls world!) on a managed switch that can disable EEE?
The 9 port Managed switch I purchased was priced at £99 but I returned a switch that cost £60 hence the balance I paid was £40, the cheapest Managed switch currently is £65
Hub did another factory reset tonight 20:40, after completed it asked me to unplug the mains and plug it back in after 30 seconds. Then it informed me that the network was intermittent in my area. Packmores, Warwick, CV34 5
The 2.5 port is still flaky, function for up to 1 hour after a reset then dies, network card reports No Internet.
Even with a "Managed 2.5 Gbit switch" (EEE off by default) plugged in.
Had 2 router replacements now, first one did work for a little bit, but this second one updated the firmware almost straight away and therefore doesn't work again (2.5g)
