My contract is somehow both renewed AND expired
So, I've been with Virgin with years, and just never really bothered renewing. Eventually, one of my TiVo boxes gave up the ghost, so I had to phone up. Turns out they don't supply those nowadays, so I got moved to a new contract with 2 TV360 boxes, M500 broadband (up from M125) and Sky Sports for £130, £5 more than I was paying. Didn't particularly want Sky Sports, and would've preferred Sky Cinema, but nope, they wouldn't budge on it. Anyways, that all went through, and I renewed on the 7th of March, got the boxes on the 11th, everything hunky dory. It's now the 17th, and my online account finally shows the changes to my contract on my account... but for some reason I'm still getting the big banner telling me to renew, because my contract is supposedly expired. The kicker? It's trying to renew the renewed package, so the deals are better than what I got. So, uh... I'm dealing with Schrödinger's contract here. Is my contract renewed, or expired? And, hypothetically speaking, what would happen if I did try 'grabbing those deals', renewing the renewed contract? I won't, because knowing my luck, I'd end up with two contracts or something, but I'm just curious.40Views1like2CommentsVirgin media 1gig deal - legit or scam?
Our 1gig broadband promo offer has come to an end and going up from £26 to £75. I spoke to virgin and the best they were able to offer was £46/month. I told them to terminate the service. I searched virgin media deals on Facebook and came across a post of a private individual advertising VM broadband packages. I reached out and the deal is £36.99 + extra £90 credit for the same 1gig broadband-only package, 18 month contract. It would have to be set up as a new customer which shouldn’t be a problem as I can just put it on my partner’s name. The person claims they work for Virgin Media. To verify this, I asked him to send me a written confirmation of this offer via email, from his VM domain. I figured if it’s a scammer, they would make some excuse as to why they cannot do this. But within minutes I received the email exactly as requested. The email outlined all the specifics of the deal, the name matches that on his Facebook account and the email address it came from is <hisname>@virginmediao2.co.uk. Screenshot of the email below. The email signature is his name, position (Account Field Executive) and mobile number. He said the contract is with Virgin Media and everything goes through them including direct debit etc. So I am wondering.. Can this be legit or does it seem too good to be true? What other checks can I carry out to confirm it’s authentic? Are there ways to spoof a domain? If it’s a scam, how does it work? Would appreciate any relevant insights on this 🙂 many thanks in advance!1.6KViews0likes11CommentsVirgin Media Force me to cancel after 25 years!
After using Virgin Media for over 25 consecutive years (at multiple addresses), they've finally forced me to cancel by expecting me to stay with them by offering me a broadband deal that is 3x slower and £13 more expensive than their competitors are offering me. I've been with them so long it's almost a sad day, but it's a no brainer considering the below: Sky - 900mbit £42 per month plusnet - 910mibt £44 per month virgin media 25 year customer deal - 350mbit £55 per month virgin media new customer - 1130mbit £45 per month Virgin media's current existing customer deals are insanely uncompetitive, previously they've always got close enough to the competitors new customer deals to sway me to stay just to save the hassle, but surely they must be losing money hand over fist with their current uncompetitive insulting approach. Surely nobody will stay with them beyond their current contract now?! In my opinion, when my contract ends I'm no longer a customer, so I should be eligible for the new customer deals. I guess they're just happy to have people leave and hope they'll come back a few years later. Decided on Plusnet as they had exceptional customer service when I called.564Views0likes2Comments
