Before I read this, and just after logging in again, I chose the Broadband Networking and Wi Fi area and there it was - nice purple button. Then back again and I found the general advisory message about logging in difficulties and below that, the button again., So that was all good, thanks. The other bit of advice on changing to passwords is well received, thank you again, and I've noted that for future reference. Fortunately, my bank has followed the same process, which makes things easier to follow. Cheers (no subject) Sorry to butt in here, but I've got lost -- again. I wanted to start a new conversation or post, but here I am .... There was once a button/link to "start a new conversation," but I can never find it now I have a passkey for my VM account and email. It's the same, because it is the device that recognised as the means of getting in. To complete my education, I tried to log in by using my passwords, but I was sent on a long journey of "try another way." So, how can I log in if I have to get a new windows 11 computer. It's not clever to use the same key on different devices. Other sites still give the option to go back to the password for the account. I'd be grateful for any help, even though I may have come here through the wrong door. Cheers Contract, linking etc Hi Everyone Has anything been done about fixing the problems of linking accounts inability to sign in contract difficulties I'm OK on all of these, but there are many unanswered queries from other members here. It grieves me to see a system failing in this way. Not only are these problems still extant, but it highlights the fact that the error routines are either not working or not present. The software should not just stop when an error condition turns up. I know it is difficult, but I always wrote "something" when errors occurred. "Something?" Either print a report or write a bit more software. Csn't simply ignore! Re: New security procedure, now I'm unable to login to virgin media I hope I didn't mislead you, Tom, but in my case it was so easy and straighforward, because my emails are current ones. I think I would have been in the same difficulty as you found, if I had used my blueyonder email. That was the one I registered with VM when I joined and there is no way (yet) that it can be deleted. I did, however, get into my VM account and change the blueyonder contact address to my present email, which I bought from ionos and that seemed to be my salvation. Maybe you can change your email contact address if and when you get into your account? I've re-read you post and it does seem your account is showing that you have your original Tesco email that you initially registered on joining VM. I might, just maybe, perhaps, have offered you a solution, but if only you can get into your account and amend the contact addy to a current email. A team member might be able to help you when they pick up these posts ? Good luck. Cheers Re: Daft question! Thanks Newapollo I said it was a daft question - and yes it was! You were too kind to say I was being dim, but yes, if I had looked around a bit.......... . Anyway, I followed your lead and found everything. I can go easy now. I'd like to give kudo or whatever badge to you, but there's no button to push. Daft question! Could someone wise me up please? I've done posts and replies and sometimes would like to re-read, or pass the info to someone else. Recently, there was a useful response from a team member that I think should be shared widely. But, I can't find it! Obviously I'm missing something, or being dim, but there does not seem to be a way of going back. I only see what others have posted recently. I'd be grateful for any help or suggestions. Cheers. SolvedRe: New security procedure, now I'm unable to login to virgin media Me again !! I said I did not want anything with O2, but on trying to get into my VM account, I found all I needed to do was to use again the passkey I used to e access VM my email recently. I had no trouble with that and I'm set up. Now, I can do everything VM but still keep off O2. I would strongly suggest you put the info from the above link you gave into a prominent place for all to see. Mind you, if you really want the hassle of answering what seems to be a never-ending queue of people with the same problem, then don't publish it. Thank you for your help and the explanation - it's good to see a satisfactory result. Cheers :-) Re: New security procedure, now I'm unable to login to virgin media HI Just been reading this and followed the link to here. It has answered all my questions and I don't need to bother VM any more. For me it is pointless to link VM and O2, so I won't be doing it. Later when it all gets merged as promised (and the best of very good luck with that one :-) :-) :-) ) I shall be able to continue as before. And, just by using the passkey instead of passwords. Thank you for the explanation. I'm sure many customers will feel more at ease now. It would be a good idea (and would save the helpers here a lot of hassle) if you would publish that information prominently for all to see. Cheers and thanks :-) Re: Linked VM and O2 OK, Alex. Thank you for the offer, but you might consider I'm being a wimp or wasting your time., It was convoluted with codes and confirmations and backup codes, but really it was straighforward with no snags. I ended up setting up a passkey as I've done for other websites. This time to get to my email account. Call it lazy, if you like, but I did not believe there was a proper need for me to do it again to log into my VM account. I felt that, surely, one passkey to my email must allow me to log in to my VM account without going through the whole process again, only to end up with same passkey - they are device specific, so it's like shouting at the deaf - pointless. However, if that's how you want to play the game, so be it. There doesn't seem to be much you can do about it except to put the skids under whoever is about to change this. BTW, it is very difficult to offend me, so you can be as hard on me as you like - I won't mind, 'cos I've received more insults in my job than you can count. Feel free :-) Thanks for offering to help. Cheers :-) Being with Virgin Many years ago, longer than I can remember, I joined VirginMedia. At the time, I was getting almost 1mps - yeah, i was! That was through the local telephone exchange. TeleWest had put in ducts and cables throughout our area and unfortunately went bust. Virgin took over the network and I jumped at the chance to have 10mps !!! mainly because Computer Shopper Magazine said it was good and Virgin had by far the best help system. And yes, it really was and I was into Perpetual Christmas. :-) As anyone can see, the whole organisation has gone rapidly downhill and is trying to stop the slide by hanging on O2's coat tails. You've seen cliffhanger scenes like that in films - just hoping the higher-up bloke doesn't let go of the cliff, or the hero/heroine. In spite of all the trials and tribulations, to say nothing of the errors and mismanaging of the whole lot, I'm staying with VM because when it is working, it does work rather well. Good for me and my activities, even though there is still showing on my account a mess of a contract that was renewed early this year. I think all I want, and many others, is for Virgin to return to it's previous high standards and stop concentrating on driving for new customers. For in that drive, they are getting new customers and losing them almost as quickly. I suppose Virgin is hoping they can fill their bath while the plug is left out. I would love to get stuck in and sort it all out, but unfortunately for them and me, my energy levels are a bit too low.
