ContributionsMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: Hub 5: Our first ever WiFi 6 broadband router I got an email from Virgin Media's Web Campaign team last week. They said they'd cancelled my Hub 5 install (!) because I had a Hub 4, wireless pods or needed engineer to install. All three things are lies. When I phoned and finally got to speak to someone who could arrange Hub 5 they said I had to have 1 gig package. They couldn't organise a [Mod edit: Inappropriate language] up in a brewery. Re: Hub 5: Our first ever WiFi 6 broadband router @Kazam_Bhinder I tried but my engineer said he didn't carry any, and the only time he'd seen one was to take it out as it wasn't working. Re: Hub 5: Our first ever WiFi 6 broadband router @andrewmm by the time it comes out a lot of people will have found another solution anyway. Re: Hub 5: Our first ever WiFi 6 broadband router @Kazam_Bhinder I've gone for the AX50. I can't see Hub 5 being in general circulation before 2023. Re: Hub 5: Our first ever WiFi 6 broadband router @BMWCHUBB good luck. Re: Hub 5: Our first ever WiFi 6 broadband router @Kazam_Bhinder no, he said he'd only seen one to remove it, as it hadn't been working. He's not been given any to install. The impression he gave was that they are for customers with Gig1 connections. My previous invitation to 'claim' a Hub 5 was sent in error, he said. As I mentioned to @dmason197 above, I'm seriously considering turning on Modem mode, and connecting an AX50. I've done it with previous Virgin hubs when they've either caused me problems or not had the capabilities I've needed/wanted. John Re: Hub 5: Our first ever WiFi 6 broadband router @dmason197 I had engineer installing new Hub 3 today, as previous one had major Wi-Fi issues. I asked him about Hub 5. He said he's not installed any, and he's taken one out to replace with Hub 3. Sounds like they're like gold dust. I'm thinking of turning modem mode on, and buying something like a TP-Link Archer AX50 from Amazon or Currys. It's got Wi-Fi 6 and is a decent price at 89 quid. John Re: Hub 5: Our first ever WiFi 6 broadband router @drmason197 I spoke with Virgin Media today, and they said Hub 5 is still in trial phase. If you didn't respond to the email, if received, inviting you to claim your Hub 5 pretty much straight away, you missed your chance - that's what happened with me. Re: Hub 5: Our first ever WiFi 6 broadband router I received an email invite to 'claim' a Hub 5 a few weeks ago. I completed the online form through the link, selected today's date. I phoned to check this morning, as the expected email hadn't arrived, only to be told that the order had failed. No one told me, they can't contact the team dealing with it (apparently they're more cloak and dagger than the SAS), and I can't now get my Hub 5. Very, very disappointed, both at the absence of the Hub 5, which I hoped would resolve my Hub 3 issues, but also the poor customer service.
