Thanks for the help Re: Cancel and my partner join as new customer Brilliant, thanks for that. As for cancelling due to the price increase. If they increase prices mid-contract you are legally entitled to cancel or change your contract (according to Martin Lewis), plus it says on the increase notification I can do this. As for my wife ringing up to set-up a new contract; that's my mistake. She would do it online via Blue Light. Apologies. So that's brilliant advice, thank you. Also, I assume if I include Sky sports I would get a number of log-ins to Sky Sports app? My son lives separately so I've been led to believe he would be able to log-in to Sky as a Virgin customer & put in my password to watch Sky simultaneously to myself? Thanks again Re: Cancel and my partner join as new customer Hi all. I'm currently in a contract but due to the price increases I have until next week to re-evaluate my package & cancel/change if I wish. The account is in my name but is paid from a joint bank account with my wife (same surname). My wife is a NHS nurse & it appears she can get some good deals via her Blue Light benefits. So I'm contemplating cancelling my contract & starting a new contract in her name (assuming retentions wont match her deal). So my query to you helpful people is: what will be the process I need to follow to do this? As I see it; I need to ring & cancel my contract first, assuming the won't match her deal. Then get my wife to call next day & set-up a new contract to start the day after mine ends? The new contract will be paid from an account solely in her name. Am I on the right track & can anyone see any problem with this? Will it make a difference that we currently pay the bill from a joint account even though the contract is only in my name? Any advice is greatly appreciated Re: Cancel and my partner join as new customer I have done the threatening to leave thing recently & got within a few days of being cut off. I did not receive any call from any retentions department to offer me a better deal to get me to stay. Speaking to other people this is becoming the norm it appears; you give them notice & their attitude is adios amigo! Re: Cancel and my partner join as new customergreat thanks for that.Re: Cancel and my partner join as new customer hI, Ihave no idea what you are talking about??? I do not wish to change my account to another name. My question was to the other guys regarding termination & re-signing of service in partners name. Re: Cancel and my partner join as new customer Can someone clarify; It appears this is working for you guys with partners who have different sir names & different accounts. However, does this work for the traditional married couple with same sirname & joint bank accounts/ My Virgin package is in my name only but is paid from a joint account. Thanks in advance. Re: Cancel and my partner join as new customer Hi again, Just reading you very helpful & detailed response but have a query. You say you cancelled on the 15th & placed new order the next day to be installed 30 days later, thus allowing the 30 days notice, I get that. However, you then talk about VM contacting you several days after you have cancelled with an improved offer. How does this work if you have already placed a new order the day after you cancelled? Cheers Re: Cancel and my partner join as new customer ok brilliant. Thanks for the advice, I'll keep this in my file for the next time. Cheers Re: Cancel and my partner join as new customer Hi, Thanks for the reply. Very interesting, & yes it does contrast with what VM tell you. Are the October dates you switched this year, not last year? I ask as their retentions department told me that their credit checks from this year will pick up the same address & not allow a new contract in a different name unless I wait 3 months. So is this complete rubbish? My wife is a nurse & can good some good deals on NHS discount sites (e.g Blue Light), but when they told me 3 months before she could be a new customer I didn't have the cahonas to call their bluff & agreed to a discount on my existing package.
