At Martin's request I forwarded last Friday the email titled "Important: Your Virgin Media switching information" I got from disconnections@account.virginmedia.co.uk on 10th October to the email address he provided me with "FAO martin" as the header. I have also messaged Martin this morning in the thread of my PM's but as yet haven't had any response. I don't want to have to go down this route but if my disputed final bill is not resolved by this Friday I will register a complaint with the communications ombudsman. Re: Final Bill!? Yes I'm disputing it. To have one email from VM on the date I switched specifically saying Switching ref: 0615889413 YouFibre Limited let us know that you’re switching your Broadband over to them on 24 October 2024. Although we hope you change your mind, here’s everything you need to know about your switch. £304.13 Early Disconnection Fee I was disconnected on that date from VM. Then I've now got a final bill saying i've missed a payment (when my direct debit is still set up with you and i've had a credit added for £27.99) then the bill now states... Total Early Disconnection Fees 24 October £364.96 I have never missed a payment and my account is up to date, so it is very confusing to say the least. Why send me an email requesting £304.13 and then another a few days later for £364.96??? Re: Final Bill!? You should see the mess leaving with One Touch Switching causes VM. You get disconnected fine on the day of the switch, you get an email saying they're sending out a package to return your hardware. VM then sends you an email the same day saying what your early leaving fee is. You think everything is going to go swimmingly. Then it all goes completely pearshaped. VM take payment as normal for that month, then create a final bill crediting you for that last payment they just took, followed by another bill a few days later saying you didn't pay your last payment (after taking it!) and adding another £60 to the earlier quoted leaving fee. Honestly, in my experience VM make it as difficult as possible to leave them. If you could PM me too Ashleigh_C it'd be much appriciated. Re: Finding out early termination charge An actual email address to communicate my request to VM would be great. Or a forum mod capable of finding out an exact figure? Finding out early termination charge Is there any way I could find out what my early termination charge would be? as I'd like to see if it'd be viable. Re: WiFi Wins Turning off "Channel Optimisation" in the Router UI really needs to be in this FAQ. It being enabled has a seriously negative effect on wifi connectivity and authorisation when handshaking to the router. Re: Still 30 days notice required when out of contract? I just love how Virgin Media just paints the "is included in your terms and conditions of your contract." as the panacea of everything it embodies, like being a customer you have the choice! You either accept those terms regardless of how bad they are (and how much more it increasingly costs you) or you are not a customer of Virgin media. That's what happens when its either Virgin or crap FTTC from BT, but Virgin goes and just takes advantage of that allowing its corporate greed to destroy every single ounce of customer loyalty it ever had. As a company it just doesn't care. Honestly I can't wait for an AltNet to fibre my street so I can leave Virgin and its dodgy contracts behind. Re: Disconnection nightmare… I had the same problems with my mother getting Virgin to cancel, random disconnects, getting sent to the wrong department, so in the end I wrote her a letter to sign and sent it to VM recorded delivery giving 30 days notice. Instead of accepting it they raised it as a complaint. I wasn't complaining, she genuinely wanted to leave. So it took yet another phone call of 45 minutes to finally get it cancelled once and for all. Why Virgin can't have button on My virgin media which says "cancel" or "give notice" is beyond me, but in hindsight the reality seems to be because by making it difficult to leave they keep hold of customers as long as possible. Re: Still 30 days notice required when out of contract? Strange isn't it how "You are never "out" of a contract until you explicitly give your 30days notice. " yet I can be out of "reduced contract" after my 18 months is up and still get annual price rises. This company is taking the biscuit, hell its a complete packet of hobnobs! So the 30 days notice is so they can get another month out of you, basically. Re: Annual price change from April 2024 The problem we have here is Virgin is well aware that for most people its BT's crap FTTC service or Virgin, so are taking advantage of that by fleecing us whenever they can. It'll stay this way until Altnets start covering Virgin cabled areas and people actually have a viable alternative.
