Struggling to connect outside camera to Wi-Fi

Has anyone any step by step instructions to connect outdoor camera to Wi-Fi. Tried resetting, switching off and on without success. Someone suggested the setting may need changing on the router but if this is the case how do I do it please

Is it possible your camera is too far away from the router? It'd very common for wifi cameras to have too weak a signal as its not inside your home

Probably should have explained a bit more in original question. We have just changed to virgin and have had no problem with moving anything else over, the camera worked with our previous broadband which was much weaker. It’s much closer to the router than for instance the ring doorbell which we didn’t have any problems with connection

It's hard for anyone here to give step by step instructions without even knowing what make of camera it is.  Didn't the instructions come with the camera, or will a web search find them? 

The first thing I would do is a factory reset of the camera, to ensure it hasn't retained any of the old WiFi settings.
