If the upgrade was done over the phone it's usually instant, however any other method usually takes around 48 hours as it needs to be manually added by an agent.
You could try and force an update, however it may not work due to the above. Also did you upgrade to SD or HD? Check channels 511 onwards just in case it's just SD.
Using your remote control do the following, it may take 15 minutes to complete.
Help & Settings > Help > Virgin TV > go up to the top of the screen then TV Care and press OK > Missing Channels.? > Refresh my channels list
