V6

I was recently on the phone with virgin to upgrade my TiVo box in the bedroom to the new v6 box (I have a v6 downstairs and it's far superior) I was advised not too as they are making the TiVo box obsolete and that all customers will be receiving a free upgrade to the v6.

Has anyone any idea when this will be?

Many thanks.

Re: V6

It's not true, it's just the person on the phone didn't want to tell you the charge for a v6

Re: V6

He told me the price it would be to upgrade though. He told me it would be £99 for the box and £25 setup before he told me it wouldn't be worth it because tivo is gonna be obsolete.

Re: V6

They are still issuing tivos to new customers  there are no plans to make them obsolete

Re: V6

Another reason they cannot be made obsolete yet is that customers with TV but not broadband cannot use the V6 so have to have a TiVo.

Re: V6

If you are out of the minimum contract period, try calling thinking of leaving (they deal with other things) and see if they can make a better offer in return for you signing up for another 12 months. Call on a weekday morning if possible.

You will need to be able to connect the V6 to your broadband.
