Netflix and Amazon Prime videos not playing

Just recently when we try to play a Netflix or Amazon Prime show/movie  from the apps section we just get a blank screen or loading icon followed by an error message saying cannot play at this time. Rebooting etc has had no effect. Can open the apps no problem

switching to a different device both netflix and amazon prime play fine.

Hi as these are streaming videos it will be connected with your Internet, how is your V6 connected to the hub. Regards Micky

Connected by the CAT6 ethernet cable provided with the box.

OK go to help and settings, settings, network, view network status scroll it should say connected under link status.

yes says connected. network connection test all passed. iplayer app works fine.

It may be due to your HDMI cable. Ignore the error message but check the help pages for Virgin-tv-error-codes/603 

If you change HDMI ports be sure to reboot your equipment for the change to take effect.

  • What about catch up (not on BBC) say channel 4 or ITV. What mega bites are you on. Also is on demand working.

Okay changing the HDMI cable with a reboot of the box seems to have resolved this. I can't see how the old HDMI cable would suddenly stop working properly seeing as the streaming works fine through a PS4 with the same cable !

Will ditch that HDMI cable as have had it ages and may well have been partly to blame.

All OnDemand & streaming use the same internet connection, so if BBC programmes using the iPlayer app work fine, that part is proven.

Are you watching on a 4K UHD or Samsung TV?

It's simple, but since @Khisanth  hasn't said so... has the V6 been restarted?

No a normal HD non Samsung TV (Philips plasma) and yes it has been restarted.

 

Working now after another restart and change of HDMI cable. (yes I should have checked before rebooting I know!)
