Where did Sky1 go?

Haven't used the TV connected to the Virgin box for a while but went through yesterday to watch some of the recordings and the Sky (SD) channels that I had have all gone HD and required subscription now!!
Only reason we went above the basic package was to get, what was then known as, Sky 1.  Never noticed when this happened as we generally use it to record series for watching at a later date.

Can anyone explain?

Sky renamed Sky One as Sky Showcase on 1st September 2021.

"It will feature the best of Sky’s entertainment channels, plus occasional features from Sky Movies and Sky Sports. Effectively, it will do what “Sky Sports Main Event” does for sport. Apart from The Simpsons, all other programmes on Sky Showcase will have regular slots on one of the other Sky channels.

From a programme point of view, Sky Max effectively becomes the ‘new’ Sky One, minus The Simpsons, although Sky Comedy will absorb some of Sky One’s comedy shows."

VM have also given customers on the Mix TV package access to additional HD channels which includes Sky Showcase.

It's possible that you are on  the older, now discontinued Player package (column 1 on the above tv edit page in the EPG guide) , which doesn't include all  the current channels. If so it may be about time to renegotiate a new deal and package. The current base package is the Mixit tier (column 5 on the above tv edit page in the EPG guide) 

Customers on the Mixit tier can add Personal Picks <<< shown here >>>  for extra channels, or switch to the Maxit tier.
