Hi @wificallerrors

I passed it on to the mod team yesterday as feedback. Hopefully it should be fixed in a few days, it may take slightly longer due to it being a Bank Holiday.

It's not due to the boxes being updated to version 5.01 as some posters have suggested. My 360's were upgraded to that version on Wednesday, however the shortcut to Sky Cinema UHD has only been missing on my boxes since Friday.

As the V5.01 was released 3 weeks ago I am surprised no one was reporting this problem before this week if it's directly related to V5.01 and not just a change on the head end, I remember when Sky UHD was launched the movie's listing was changing daily until they got it right.

It will probably come back with no explanation.

I agree with you on that, but it is worth noting that these updates are not rolled out to all customers at the same time. I received the update last week, around the same time as newapollo.

There is one more thing (related to Sky On Demand UHD) that has bothered me a bit, but I assume this is a separate “bug” and not related to the Sky On Demand UHD shortcut having disappeared.

When I open the “Virgin TV 360 Upgrade” app, and then go to the entertainment category, then I can see that I am subscribed to 1) Sky Cinema, 2) Sky Sports + Sky Cinema, but as for 3) Sky On Demand UHD, the upgrade app seems to think that I am not subscribed (although this should be included in my package, and also - I can definitely play UHD movies available under Sky Cinema, and when I do there is a huge icon displayed on the screen that clearly says “Sky On Demand” before the movie starts).

The upgrade app just has an icon of a phone, next to a message: “Sorry, but you can’t add a subscription to this channel here. To add this channel to your line-up you’ll need to speak to one of our team.”

When I noticed this I thought that perhaps the reason that the Sky On Demand UHD shortcut has disappeared might have to do with the upgrade app mistakenly thinking that I am not subscribed to that service in the first place. With that in mind I’ve tried calling Virgin Media a couple of times, and half of the time the person I end up speaking to says that from their end it looks like it is enabled, and half of the time I’ve been told that Virgin Media does not provide Sky On Demand / that there is no such thing as Sky On Demand UHD. Obviously the people working on the phone lines have no idea what services they are providing, so I can’t be bothered to try calling Virgin Media anymore.

In any case, it is slightly odd/alarming to me that Sky On Demand UHD isn’t enabled/subscribed to according to the Upgrade app. I wonder if everyone else have the same “problem”. It could be that the Upgrade app itself is just really bad and outdated, and that the information provided there isn’t really tied to whatever channels (or shortcuts, in this case) that you are able to access…

Thought I was going mad when I couldn't find it. Absolutely shocking from Virgin but not a great surprise. The whole interface is so user unfriendly they probably didn't notice that they'd somehow disabled a whole chunk of functionality.

Yeah, the whole interface is terribly unintuitive and confusing. A lot of basic features which you would expect just doesn't exist as well. For example, if you go to Sky Cinema, and look at the filtering options you are limited to filtering by date, year, and that's pretty much it. If you compare that to Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, or Plex etc then Virgin Media looks like a joke. It would be nice if we could at the very least filter UHD movies, and movies by genre. Oh well....

Hi @wificallerrors

If you click on Boxsets & Movies > Movies > and scroll down to the rail that has three icons ( Lionsgate+, Sky Cinema and Store) and click on Sky Cinema, on the next screen there is a rail with the following filters :-

Family, Romance, Superheroes, Comedy, Drama, Action, Thriller, Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Horror, and LGTBQ.

Within each section you can also search by See all, New arrival, and Last Chance. Also by Popularity, A-Z and Release year.

Once fixed by VM there should also be another UHD icon in the main rail (as there was previously) , and further down a link to UHD

Thanks for the advice. Whilst that is true - if you go to the "main page" for Sky Cinema (the View All page), which has about 1000+ movies, then all of a sudden the filtering option becomes near useless. Then all of sudden you cannot filter by any of the genres that you mentioned. That is what I mean by unintuitive.

Normally I would expect that if I go to the main page for a service, that has the complete list of all available movies, then there would be a proper filtering option on that very page. Instead there are these really odd "Buttons", on a screen that is full of targeted adds (the Boxsets & Movies > Movies page which you are referring to).

Also last irritation to ventilate - who the heck was the genius that thought up those really odd genres. Really odd mix that doesn't make a lot of sense: Family, Romance, Superheroes, Comedy, Drama, Action, Thriller, Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Horror, and LGTBQ?

I think the genres are set by Sky, so although VM can be blamed for many things, on this rare occasion it might not be their fault. I have Sky Q and have almost the same genres: Family, Comedy, Action, Horror, Superheroes, Animation, Drama, Crime & Thriller, Sci-Fi & Fantasy, International, LGBT+.

I see, that makes sense. My bad 🙂 Well - I still think it isn't ideal to be forced to use those "filters" on a page full with ads. I have no interest in subscribing to Lionsgate+ for example, and I will never in my life buy or rent a movie from the "Virgin Store", but those are on every page of Boxsets & Movies. Would be great if we could just have a clean movie library, with filters, included the option to filter UHD movies. Hopefully the UHD button will be added back soon. Fingers crossed

What the hell is going on. My 360 box has just updated to 5.01 and can't get any UHD films and before anyone says I have the Sky Sports and Cinema collection AND Sky Sports and Cinema Ultra HD pack as well. Why do Virgin try fixing things because all I can see is they seem to do is  [MOD EDIT: Language] something else up. Please fix this or I want a refund but then trying to get through to them is near impossible.
