Yes, same issue I have, and am still fighting......
I recently switched both my wife and daughter to virgin mobile from three and both are experiencing this issue with different phones.
The messages appear when opening the app but not when the screen is off. The sender does not see the second tick.
Works fine on WiFi, only an issue on 4g.
Also worked fine on three.
Has to be a Virgin network problem.
Well for anyone else suffering with this I may have found a solution.
Use a VPN.
Have a VPN active such as private Internet access and messages are received immediately.
Worked for me anyway. Would be interested to know if it works for others having the same issue.
I've just been to Spain for a week and is even worse brilliant signal but the delay on 4g is horrendous
I was also having the same issue in Spain!
Which network were you connected to in Spain? Movistar, or orange?
I would have thought that whatsapp delays while roaming could be a local network problem, rather than vm. Happy to be proved wrong though.
I'll gladly test it myself while in tenerife in a few weeks.
It's clearly whatever virgin media connects to not a local thing as all my other friends are different networks and no problems so it's clearly a bigger thing than VM even know about
And yea a VPN seems to be working but shouldn't need it
I eventually gave up on Virgin, switched to ID mobile. All WhatsApp messages are now coming through in real time.. I had 8 months left on my contract, but Virgin allowed me to leave without penalty.
Wife's with VM still, hers are still delayed. She's switching Tuesday. Virgin have had months to sort this out. They're not even commenting on this thread anymore.
What did you do/say - they refuse to let me leave without penalty (still).
