Voicemail Notification But No Voicemail!

Tuning in

Not sure if this is a Virgin issue or iPhone issue but I keep getting push notifications saying I have a new voicemail but I don’t. The red dot notification is also on the phone icon but that doesn’t bother me, it’s just the actual notification that’s annoying me.

I noticed it after updating to ios 14.1, so don’t know if that anything to do with it but I’ve tried searching for solutions and had no luck. Any ideas?

Thanks, this did it.

Hi, I also have this problem. I've tried doing as suggested (turning off badges/rebooting/turning badges back on again: I've done this several times), but it doesn't get rid of it. I've also gone into vm and turned off the alerts; this works, but it's not an answer, as I would like to get an alert when there really is a message to listen to. Thanks, Tim

Hi LaCorbiere,

Thank you for your post and welcome to the community.

I'm very sorry to hear about the issue with the voicemail notification.

To confirm have you been able to call your voicemail and go into manage message alerts and turn this off and on again?

^Martin

Hi, Martin, thanks very much for responding, and apologies that it's taken me such a long time to get back to you.  As I'd mentioned, I'd tried all the suggestions before, some of them several times. But today I thought I'd go through them again, one last time ... and something, somewhere seems to have worked & the notifications, both red dot and alerts, appear to have finally gone away. I'm relieved they've gone, I just wish I knew why!

HI LaCorbiere,

Thank you for taking the time to update us 🙂

So glad to hear its all working now.

Zoie

I've had this problem intermittently - usually gets solved by leaving myself another voice message, then going into voice mail on the phone and deleting and it clears the flag. But not this time.

I've tried turning off notifications (SMS alerts) and putting them back on.

Disabling voice mail and turning it back on.

Left myself several messages and deleted them, but I still have the badge showing a voice message left which has been deleted.

Any other ideas how this can be cleared?

Hi Andycambs,

Thank you for your post, I am sorry you are having voicemail issues, I also have this and have an iPhone, I feel it is an iPhone issue as I have never seen this happen on other handsets.

Zoie

Thanks 'Superfast' your tip there about leaving myself a message and then deleting worked perfectly for me.

Hi Barzey,

Thank you for your post, glad to hear you managed to clear the Voicemail notification by sending yourself a Voicemail then deleting it, if you have any further issues or have anything you wish to share with the community, please do not hesitate to reach back out.

Regards

Paul.

I have found that the notification is sometimes just slow disappearing. Delete the voicemail, but the '1' notification remains - give it five minutes and it eventually goes.
