Why have my bank just told me that i cannot continue to use my J3 for online banking - they tell me it is too old but Samsung and Virgin are still selling them ?????
Seems strange. There are two Variants 2016 and 2017, so not that old compared to what is out there still running.
If anything I would have thought it would be down to your version of Android. What Version are your running
afaik the J3 can go up to android 7

Hi to both of the people replying.
My phone is a J3 - so not that "old" - it is still on sale from both Samsung and Virgin.
I have Android version 5.1.1. and is regularly automatically updated
If this phone cannot be updated to a better / later / higher Android and that is what is needed for the new banks online banking systems [e.g. Natwest and Skipton BS] why is it still being sold ????

As far as I can see, Samsung haven't released anything newer than that for the 2016 version:https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-j3/SM-J320FN/
The version currently sold by Virgin Mobile seems to be the 2017 version which has been updated to Android 8.0:https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-j3/SM-J330FN/
