New Sim

I have put the new sim into my mobile and it has not worked.  I now have emergency calls only and no network.

It is an old Alcatel VM 800.

Letter did not ask me to activate sim, just said put in phone.

I cannot access my mobile online account as it has an old blueyonder email address which no longer exists because i left other VM services last year and forgot to change to my new email.

I have £16 of credit on phone. I cannot afford to lose phone or credit.

Can anybody help as have no other way of contacting VM?

Re: New Sim

Well after reading so many problems with these new sims i'm obviously not on my own!

The new sim locked my phone...........I cannot ring or text VM as my phone is emergency calls only and i need my phone.

Can anyone help with unlocking a Alcatel VM800?

Re: New Sim

Hello

From what you have said this phone is locked to the old SIM i.e. EE rebranded VM you need to request a unlock code from https://www.virginmedia.com/help/unlock-code-request1

The request can take upto 72hrs to get the code.

Re: New Sim

Hi Izamanic,

Thanks for your post and welcome to our community

Sorry to hear that you're having some trouble using your phone since getting a new SIM, this isn't good.

Whilst I can fully appreciate you've requested the unlocking code, I would just want to check that the SIM has been activated, I know the letter says put it in the phone and it will work but I just want to check in case anything has gone wrong.

If it has I can sort it quickly

I'm going to pop you a message now asking for some details and we'll take it from there 🙂

Re: New Sim

Hi

Can anybody help with how to lodge a complaint with VM?

I have spent hours today still trying to sort out my phone. I keep being sent round in circles.

On Monday i had an old but good mobile with £16 of credit on, put in the new sim and phone locked.

Requested unlock code and haven't heard a thing. Keep getting dumped off chat.

So i want somewhere i can complain because i am not losing my phone.

Reading how many people have been affected is beyond belief!!

So if someone can let me know how to go about this i would be very grateful.

Re: New Sim

Ok so now feel like i'm writing War and Peace!

I thought i would have a last look at new sim card etc. So took out of phone and put back in again. This time i was asked for network key.......put in number at bottom left card that sim came on......several times............each time it said "Invalid sim refer to manufacturer ".

I then thought i would try my old sim again.........and it works!!

So i have my phone back which is great but the new sim is not compatible with my phone.

So my next question is how can i sort out a new sim that will work with my phone.

Also how long will my old sim carry on working before it will be switched off?

Thank you for reading if you got through all that!

Re: New Sim

Was the number on the bottom left of the card of the form #pw+111111111111111+1# (where all the 1's are numbers between 0 and 9)?

Re: New Sim

No i've just got 8 numbers on the bottom left of card. They are quite hard to read!
