Mobile hotspot

I have a caravan on the east coast and I want to use my VM sim as a mobile hotspot. I have put the sim into a honor 10 but it seems extremely sluggish all the time no matter if 1 or 3 devices are connected. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated 🙏

Re: Mobile hotspot

I think you need to establish whether this is a SIM/reception issue or some sort of problem based around the Honor 10.

I would temporarily put the SIM into a mobile and set up a hotspot and see what it gives you.

Re: Mobile hotspot

Hello SJMS

Thanks for contacting us via the forums in regards to tethering and the speeds received.

Have you been able to check if this is just due to the speeds available in that location virg.co/coverage or if this is due to the device? Have you been able to try the SIM in another device to see if the speeds increase?

Thanks

Rob

Re: Mobile hotspot

Hi Rob, I have checked the coverage and it's supposedly 4g or 3g but I don't have anything other than a h showing and no signal.

I have tried another mobile and this just says emergency calls only.

I'm at a loss as what to do?

Re: Mobile hotspot

I notice Virgin gave you their coverage checker based on Vodafone but do you know if you have been changed over yet and are still using the EE network for signal?

When did you get the SIM?

Re: Mobile hotspot

I got the sim probably 15 mths ago so not sure if that's old or not. My personal use phone is a Vodafone sim which has full signal 4g here.

Re: Mobile hotspot

OK Check here which is the EE one. Not all Virgin SIMs have changed yet

Re: Mobile hotspot

Thanks for your reply, SJMS,

We can only advise two other options: 1, replacing the SIM or 2, trying the SIM in another device.

Cheers,

Corey C

Re: Mobile hotspot

As you have already tried the SIM in another device I guess trying a replacement SIM might help.
