Deleting Multiple Files

thrice
Superfast

I have just upgraded my mobile from a Samsung S8 to a Samsung S22. I used the Smart Switch app to transfer all my files from the old mobile to the new one. All went well but, for some unknown reason, the switch duplicated many of my files. I now have more than 10,000 to delete. I admit I am new to the S22 but I can't find a way to delete all the duplicates other than one at a time. I tried using the Samsung DeX app on my PC but the problem is the same. Is there some easy way I can delete these files? Help appreciated.

Hi @thrice, thanks for posting and welcome back to our community.

Sorry to hear that you've so many duplicate files.  Does the advice on here, help at all?  Or is there not a pre-installed app on your handset already that can detect duplicate files?

Regards

Thanks for your help, Lee. Your reply was useful - but kind of in a roundabout way. I investigated the Google Files app (it wasn't pre-installed on my new phone) but there was not an option to find and delete multiple files. I then found an app called Duplicate Files Fixer that did the job and deleted thousands of duplicate files. Thanks again. Job done.

Thanks for getting back to me @thrice.

Yeah, I suspected that you may have to go down the route you did, but it's not something we as a company, could recommend.  How are you loving the handset?  I'm guessing overcoming the hurdle you just have, would improve things?  Anyway, thanks for confirming you managed to find that resolution. Remember, if you ever need assistance in the future, our fantastic community and forum team are always willing to lend a hand. Also, please bear in mind that our website offers lots of helpful information and also, you can manage your account from here.  The option is there for mobile too.

The new mobile promises to be great but I did not anticipate just how difficult it would be to transfer my existing Virgin Mobile number over to O2. Many failed attempts yesterday to get a PAC code both online and by text message with VM. Anyway, after half an hour on the phone this afternoon with a human at VM and another half hour with another human at O2, I finally managed it and the transfer is scheduled for Friday. I will soon see if it was worth all the hassle.

Thanks for the update.

Please do reach out to us if/when you need us.  And I hope your experiences improve moving forwards.
