Delayed Notifications

Hello,

Since moving to virgin media I've been receiving my notifications late whilst on mobile data. I've never had any trouble with this phone before when I was previously on O2. It all works fine once I'm connected to WiFi and a tonne of notifications come through.

Steps I've taken so far:

- updating the heart beat on the phone

- checking that battery saver is not turned on and also making sure applications aren't optimised.

- checking all the network settings

- I've deleted and recreated the APNs.

I've never had this problem before, but it gets annoying now getting notifications 20 minutes later that I've missed a call on WhatsApp  Screenshot_20180612-130545_BBC News.jpg

Re: Delayed Notifications

Sorry forgot to add, I'm currently using a Samsung Galaxy S8.

I've researched and tried everything I've seen online.

I'm beginning to think it's either the sim or the network..

Re: Delayed Notifications

Thank you for letting us know this RobinGib10,

There is nothing that comes to mind as of why this is an issue, have you done a speed test to test the ping on your data settings? Click here

Let us know

Re: Delayed Notifications

Hi Mark_G3,

Thanks for posting on our Community.

Apology that you're getting notifications on a later time as this doesn't notify you right away when it should be. I'll try my best to help you sorted out.  Just to clarify if you did a speed test on your mobile phone?

What mobile handset do you have and does all your apps goes for late notifications? How about your message and calls, have you able to received it on time?

Looking forward to your response.

Thanks

Victoria_M

Re: Delayed Notifications

Hi Victoria,

It's the Samsung S10 and all apps are affected. Normal sms text messages come through fine but they don't use data.

I've run a few tests over the last week. Download is about 20mbps. Ping averages around 40 which seems high.

Thanks

Re: Delayed Notifications

Thanks for replying Mark_G3. Can you try this one below.

  1. Head over to the Settings app on your Android device.
  2. Scroll down to find the Battery tab and access the Battery optimization.
  3. From the list of apps installed, scroll down to find the one you’re having the delayed notifications issue.
  4. Tap on the app icon and select “Don’t optimize” to disable Doze Mode and App Standby for that specific app.

This alone should most likely help you fix the delayed notifications issue, but if you’re still having trouble,  let us know so that we can further help.

Thanks,

Joseph_C

Re: Delayed Notifications

Hi,

I've tried all this sort of stuff. It doesn't make a difference.
