Hello. I've arrived back at Virgin mobile after a few successful years at Plusnet. I ported my number to virgin but have a problem:-
The standard apn settings set up do not work with my Oneplus 7t. I had no data connection and limited sms availability - texts would either fail when and incoming ones were taking up to 12 hrs to arrive.
I searched around the internet and used the apn found here:-
https://apn-uk.gishan.net/en/apn/virgin/oneplus-7t
Everything seemed to work today but the texting errors started again this afternoon. I've tried re-booting the phone and re-inserting the sim but no luck.
Just wondering if anyone has some different apn settings for Oneplus phones (preferably the 7t)?
My wife is on Virgin Mobile and has no problems. (Maybe copy her APN settings on a Huawei Mate 10, seems a long shot?
If I can't get it fixed I'll have to leave soon.
Alex

Hello John
I did that and I see that just re-sets the apn back to default. So it is the same as I said in my first post - texts from me are failing or delayed. Texts from my wife are delayed - the last two took 15mins and 35mins. If I turn wifi off I have no internet. (Data is turned on in settings)

Thanks for coming back to me. The phone you're using is not one of our range so we can only offer limited support. What APN settings have you got? When did you also port in to us please?
Best wishes.

Here are the settings I have
The link to the other settings is in my first post.
I think joining and the port were completed on 31 May.

Hey @alfienoakes63,
Thanks for providing us this, if you look at another one of our community posts here.
You can see what the correct APN settings should be.
Cheers. Joe

Hi Joe, there are 3 lots of settings in that thread - the OP links to settings "Virgin Internet / MMS 4G" and "Virgin Media Mobile Internet" but I'm assuming you mean the one a few posts down ?
This one:-
These settings work for most Android. I'm sure iOS is similar
Internet & MMS APN.
Name: WEB
APN: goto.virginmobile.uk
MMSC: http://mms.virginmobile.co.uk:8002
MMS proxy: 193.30.166.2
MMS port: 8080
MCC: 234
MNC: 38
Authentication type: CHAP
APN type: *
APN Protocol: IPv4
APN Roaming Protocol: IPv4
Leave all other options blank/Not set
I'll give it a go and report back.

Hey @alfienoakes63,
My apologies, yes that would be the ones required which are optimal for your device, there is also some useful information further down on that thread if you have other issues whilst trying to process the change.
Cheers. Joe

The latest settings two posts back are better though still not perfect. There are periods when everything works and others when it doesn't - for example yesterday sent 4 txts to myself at 4.40, 4.47, 5.00 and 5.11 and they all arrived together at 5.35.Out in a local park I couldn't get any internet despite coverage checker showing good signal and where i never had any problems with plusnet.
Maybe it is signal related - sometimes I get 3 bars but with an exclamation mark on the symbol.
My wife's Mate 10 (with Virgin) has instant connection in and around the house and no problems. She has the same apn settings although the details are split over 2 apns as shown here https://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Forum-Archive/APN-settings-for-data/m-p/3597569#M96794 so maybe I will try this later and see if it makes a difference. I'll see what happens and decide over the next few days but i expect i'll need to switch again, what fun.

Hi @alfienoakes63, thank you for the update.
Please let us know how you get on with splitting the details over two APNs.
If you're continuing to experience issues, we'll do our very best to help further.

Daniel
