Recorded Programmes No Longer Available

Is there a time limit on recorded programmes? 2 years? Is it channel dependant? Some programmes are no longer available. No reason why. 

I am aware some are because of channel changes such HD or number like BBC4.

Recordings from channels that have been removed or changed format are time limited, usually to one year.

Recordings from Sky channels cease to be viewable as soon as a channel is removed.
