Dead Netgear power supply again

This one is a replacement supplied in 2016

https://community.virginmedia.com/virgin/board/message?board.id=ForumArchive&message.id=1234943#M123...

Producing a whole 1.3 volts off load.

I have tried the contact-us chat thing but been waiting for a response since yesterday morning.

Is there a more reliable supply available?

Really don't like using my Roberts Radio one.

you say "netgear" PSU?
the virgin hubs aren't made by netgear, which device has a failed PSU?

Whilst that is the case for the current Hub3 and Hub4, the Superhubs were made by netgear.

Re: Dead Netgear power supply again

maybe a case for having that hub replaced then... it's possible it's the hub that is causing the PSU to fail.

Re: Dead Netgear power supply again

Yes - three days now with now response from the chat - so located the Hub 3 offer and it said we qualified for it so I started the order.

Stopped when I got to the page which seemed to be charging £5 for delivery PLUS £10 one-off charge (for delivery again?).

Looks like they are treating it as a new start (come back Blueyonder...)

Gave up - I'll have to buy a power supply from ebay...

Re: Dead Netgear power supply again

Since this is the tech chatter section - I was able to repair the power supply thanks to useful hints from (the first portion of) this video:-

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5tJSHqtQnyA

It was in fact the 680uF capacitor on the output - a Lytec cap with a specified life of 4,000 hours - so about 166 days.

Replaced with a Panasonic with 10,000 hour life.

Re: Dead Netgear power supply again

Are you sure about that lifespan, seems very short.
