Sky sports on virgin go

I have signed up for virgin and included Sky Sports and BT sport in my package which I mainly going to be watching on my IPhone 14 pro max on Virgin go app. For some reason I cannot access Sky sports on my phone, I’ve gone through every troubleshooting process that I can find on Community forums (bear in my mind I am IT expert so I know how to carry out these steps), done everything regarding device management, seems there is a problem between sky sports and virgin go apps. I have signed through my virgin account on sky sports app but it’s telling me my subscription is not active and I should contact my provider. I can watch sky sports fine on my TV but I need it on my phone otherwise I would have to cancel this contract. Please can some help me with this.

If you've only just joined VM it may take a day or two for your VM account to be synchronised with the app via Sky's systems

It should work with the 360 box but issues have been known with the Stream box. 

Did you click on the dedicated Virgin TV UK icon to sign into Sky Sports using the Sky Sports app, and use the same credentials that you use for My Virgin Media?

Yes, I have signed using my virgin media credentials via dedicated Virgin UK signing in option on Sky Sports app. Not sure why it would not let me watch on either sky sports or virgin go app, BT sports work fine on Virgin go, why can’t we watch sky sports directly on virgin go? It’s been more than 3 days since I’ve signed up so there definitely seem to be an issue regarding linkage between virgin go app and sky sports app.

It will be due a Sky decision and the broadcasting agreement between Sky and VM.

Perhaps it's due to the constant updates that Sky make to their app to enable watching the sports - it saves them having to spend extra time, effort and money having to liaise with VM to update the VM apps.

You will notice that you can't watch BBC channels either via the TVGO app, and have to exit the app and watch on iPlayer (providing you've actually downloaded the iPlayer app)

 You will also find some live programs, on demand/catch up and recording content on various channels aren't available because they are subject to licensing agreements, or rights, which affect things such as the ways you can watch content on various devices. Thsi doesn't just affect VM, it also affects other broadcasters such as Sky, BT and talktalk.

Hi, ever since the last update on the Sky Sports App on 18 April 2023, version no. 8.34.0, I had of not been able to watch any live sports on the Sky Sports App with my iPhone or  my iPad.IMG_3234.png

 
When I try to watch any live sports, the app just says “Video Unavailable - A problem was encountered- please try again later”.  I have attached a photo of the message that I am receiving above.
 
I am using the correct Virgin media credentials to log into the app and I have carried out all of the usual trouble shooting activities such as reinstalling the app, restarting my iPhone, checking the latest iOS software and logging out and in again.  I subscribe to Sky Sports through Virgin Media (using their credentials) which is why I cannot use the Sky Go app to watch Sky Sports. 
 
Please could a VM Team Member look into this as everything was working well before the Sky Sports App updated (version no 8.34.0).

Thanks for your message.  I can confirm that I can log into My Virgin Media App using exactly the same credentials and it works very well.  I suspect that it it is something that Sky have done with their Sly Sports App as this has happened since an update.

Please see the photo below as the message that I keep getting when trying to watch any live sports.

I am very sorry to hear of the issues you have been facing when attempting to access the Sky Sports app. 

Can you please try using a different device to login to the service to see if you experience the same issue?

Can you please try to remove the app and the app data from your device and then reinstall it?

Thank you for your response.

I have tried deleting the app, removing all of its data, reinstalling it and then signing in using my Virgin Media credentials.  The result is still exactly the same though as I get an error message when trying to watch live sports.  This is exactly the same on my iPad, but it does work on my Android phone.  The error message only occurs on iOS devices.

Your further help with the Apps Team at Sky would be appreciated.
