After making enquiries, I heard that the new speed packages are to be officially released on Monday the 29th April, although some are already getting the new upload speeds.

I hope so 😄 Did they make any hints towards the package changes being in-line with VM Ireland? Like 250/20?

That's not too bad when you look at the price of the 360mb package you pay an extra 5 euro a month for the extra 140mb download and the extra 15mb upload. Let's see if we get the same kind of price here on these shores.

What hub do Ireland use for 500 mbps service

Hitron, same as VM UK use for business customers. At least, it was. Might have changed.

Quite amused at staff blabbing to random members of the public about unannounced new products.

See how many people manage to blag either early upgrade or free upgrade from the ever generous retentions team. End of the month and targets to hit.

I utilise my internet "hard". 1TB a month isn't unheard of. This month is 600gb but last month it was 1400gb.

I've had the speed boost on the upload.

Last time I called I was told my average was 6Tb and to "Try harder"

I didn't bother but when I get my DIA in which is 300/300 20-30TB a month will be done!

But the one thing I have always loved about cable is that it seems you can download at full pelt whilst someone uploads. Something FTTC and even g.fast could never do. Initial tests suggest 20GB upload an hour is possible from this new speed (well I did 1GB in 4 mins in google drive) this was 4.5MB/sec as was FTP

I wonder if a g.fast pod will ever appear at our cab - now that VM are doing this from Monday - will be interesting to see!

Edinburgh, area 11: https://www.speedtest.net/result/d/98ea9ce6-f2f7-4cec-a199-0682b28f6175

Averaging 46.7Mbps on "real" servers, such as Wildcard networks in Newcastle.
