Re: Very slow speeds 3pm - 11pm via Ethernet

Only some companies, usually very big ones like major ISPs and Cloudflare etc, have peering arrangements at colocation centres. The VPN traffic will be going via a different route. Also depending on where the VPN exit node is, traffic would look like it is originating from a different location so wouldn't be peered at Telehouse London.

Re: Very slow speeds 3pm - 11pm via Ethernet

Im also based in Crawley and gettin the exact same issues,

Past Midnight no problem, full 360 Down and 36 up,

Now on average 2-10 Mbps down but 36 Mbps up. with very high latency 30-60 MS comapred to normal 8-11.

100% agree there is a core netowrk issue but find it hard to belive that Virgin are unaware of this issue...

Re: Very slow speeds 3pm - 11pm via Ethernet

I now think i have the same issue, using a VPN gives me much better speeds so obviously a wide spread issue

Re: Very slow speeds 3pm - 11pm via Ethernet

Seems like this is the same problem I've been having for the past few days in Bexley, this is my graph for Sunday:

https://www.thinkbroadband.com/broadband/monitoring/quality/share/cba30015a3dbedd8198a9691e7b116447e...

And this is my mums connection in the Dartford area:

Previous days have shown the same problem, although it seems to be getting worse. I've not tested with a VPN but will give it a go if I get time.

Re: Very slow speeds 3pm - 11pm via Ethernet

Hi Matthew012374,

Thank you for your post. I'm very sorry to hear about the issue you've been having your with broadband.

I have been able to locate your account. I have ran some initial tests and nothing showing that could be affecting this.

To confirm if you remove the VPN what broadband speed do you get on a Wired connection?

Re: Very slow speeds 3pm - 11pm via Ethernet

Hello Martin, thank you for your response, since the start of yesterday i am now running at consistently full speeds 24/7 again so whatever the issue was prior seems to of corrected itself.  I still have a technician's visit booked for Saturday and won't cancel this until i am confident whatever the issue was has now corrected itself and won't suddenly return.  Are you able to tell me if all my power levels are within spec please?

Prior to yesterday without the VPN i was getting consistent speeds on a wired connection of 2-8mbps throughout the afternoon/evening (also confirmed by VM), with pings of around 60 though i was still able to access YouTube and play 4K videos with these speeds.  With the VPN, i was getting considerably faster speeds (200mb+) wireless and wired.

Thank you for that information. Please do let us know how the visit goes.

I have checked our side and everything is looking okay.
