Speedtest Desktop App or Web Browser

Having played with the SpeedTest for quite a while now it was suggested to try different browsers to see if there was any difference.

Not hugely having tried Chrome, Edge & Firefox.

Then I noticed there are Desktop apps available for Windows and MacOS.

Downloaded and installed and there is a huge difference with what is being reported back by the app.

Would those that know say it is more reliable to use the Desktop app version than the web browser version?

Re: Speedtest Desktop App or Web Browser

A post earlier indicated that the desktop app was slower than the web browser.

Several times in fact in the past as well.

Re: Speedtest Desktop App or Web Browser

I found the desktop app to be fairly consistent, and full speed.

Re: Speedtest Desktop App or Web Browser

Might be worth checking it again they may have updated it since then.

My results show better than the web browser so I wouldn’t mind someone else checking for verification and that I’m not on my own.

Re: Speedtest Desktop App or Web Browser

Speed tests using both methods taken for comparison, using Windows 10 hard wired.

The app result is always faster on my PC, also faster using WiFi and 4g on my mobile and tablet
