I have been getting very slow internet for the past few days. I ran a speed test which shows a download speed of 3.52mbps and an upload speed of 0.06mbps. As with most people I am currently working from home and having trouble when on Zoom and saving files to my company's online system.
I have tried resetting the router twice, then I re-checked my speeds and they came out worse at 1.16mbps for download and 0.05mbps for upload! Although I have then done another test and the download speed is back to near normal at 41.2mbps but the upload speed is still only 0.18mbps which makes saving documents impossible.
All the connections are finger tight. I have been with VM since August 2020 and everything has been working fine until recently. I did get a hub upgrade in November 2020 to a hub 4 - could this be the issue?
I'm paying for 50mb so would be expecting to achieve at lease this. Plus I am in London where you would expect speeds to be the best.
Please can someone help as I am finding it impossible to work from home!!
What speeds do you get at >> SamKnows << with a direct connection using a Cat 5E or better ethernet cable between the Hub in Router Mode and a 1Gbs capable Pc/Mac/Chromebook and no other devices connected ?
Then immediately after …
Can you Login to the Hub Settings and navigate to the Connected Devices page - what is the reported 'connection speed’ for the ethernet cable connected device you used for the speed test ?
If possible can you set up a Broadband Quality Monitor (BQM) at thinkbroadband.com - this will give you an insight into what is happening with the signal at the other side of the Hub, it will take a few hours to get any kind of trend showing although you should post the link straight away.
Please post a 'Live Link' to your BQM on here straight away.
Instructions for posting BQM Live Link
Under your BQM graph are two links in red.
Click the lower link (Share Live Graph) then click generate.
