Hubs and boosters

Tuning in

I am trying to get boosters from Virgin....... l have had 2 engineers out- the first for installation and the second to advise on why l was getting NO wifi in parts of the first floor (of a small 4 bed detached house).

The 2nd engineer did various tests and advised l needed boosters. He also changed my 3 hub for a 4 hob. I have asked the fabulous Customer care of Virgin Media twice for boosters and have been ignored. I am told by someone trying to sell me a new contract that l need to download Virgin  Connect and if l have black spots l can order boosters online. HOWEVER, it seems l can only progress if l have a bloody 3 hub!?!?! My current contract ends at the end of this month( September).

Should l look elsewhere for my wifi or can anyone help?

To address the wifi issues, VM now supply “wifi Pods” (no longer doing cheap and cheerless “boosters”). However, their Pods are only free to customers on the 1GB, Volt (or old Ultimate Oomph) packages - is that you? If so they are worth trying - they should work for you. Its now called… Wifi Max see…….

You can call  0800 064 3850 to order the first one - or follow instructions on that website - or just wait here for a VM person to respond in a day or two and they will sort the first one for you . If you call dont get fobbed off by the offshore CS agents' saying you aren’t eligible it will be £5 or £8 month - you are… and it wont be - just look on the webpage.

If not free to you… you will be charged £8/month (note - BT charge £10/mo for their whole home wifi solution). It’s a simple solution and should work for you. However, you would soon pay off that cost by buying your own wireless solution that will be yours to own and use forever, although the VM Pods should be a simpler option.

You would need to get either a… (1) Mesh System, (2) Wireless router, (3) Wireless access point (4) A combination of (2,3).

£30-100 (that’s ~4->12 months of Max Pod rental) should sort it for most customers with an average property and usage.

I do not work for VM. My services: HD TV on VIP (+ Sky Sports & Movies & BT sport), x3 V6 boxes (1 wired, 2 on WiFi) Hub5 in modem mode with Apple Airport Extreme Router +2 Airport Express's. On Volt 350Mbps, Talk Anytime Phone, x2 Mobile SIM only iPhones.

Hey Royboy26, thank you for reaching out and I am sorry you are struggling to order some pods.

I will be able to help you with you and get you some ordered, however they can be chargeable depending what package you are.

They are free on packages such as the VOLT, 1GB or Oomph bundles.

I will send you a PM, so we can look into this, please look out for the purple envelope. Thanks

New around here?

Better off getting own mesh system from Amazon

Hi Matt

Sorry, I always thought from your advertising campaign that Virgin offered FULL wifi throughout the home....?

I live in a small modern traditionally built detached house (1981 constructed) and was sold full coverage when taking out my (now expiring) plan. I even have a Type 4 hub which precludes me from doing any tests on your  - recently downloaded  -  Virgin Connect!?!? I have previously been promised free "boosters" by Customer Care ( HaHa). I don't want to pay for them but don't need VOLT so what do I do?

BT here I come?

Hi @Royboy26, thanks for your reply to Matt.

I can see that you're now communicating with Matt via PM and to date, it looks like he is awaiting a further response from you.

If you can continue to discuss things with Matt privately, he'll give you all the further support you need regarding this matter.

Many thanks
