Gig1 Slow Speeds - Always around 500Mbps

Hi,

In the past week I have been upgraded to Gig1 fibre with Virgin and since then I haven't been seeing anywhere near the speed it should be.

Speed tests taken across 4 devices (2 PCs, S21 Ultra 5ghz, ASUS router) all show between 400 - 500 Mbps. I've had an engineer visit and replace the cables in my house and replaced the Hub 4 but still no improvement. On SamKnows it states that 920 Mbps is getting to the router but to the PC only showing 96 Mbps. One PC is connected via 30m Cat5e and network adapter showing 1 Gbps connection, and the second PC is connected via 1m Cat6a with network adapter showing 1 Gbps connection.

Below are the power stats from the Hub 4, could someone advise if these are within normal range as I can't think what else the issue could be

This issue has now been solved, I gave my PC a fresh install of Windows this morning and speed tests are now showing in the 900+ Mbps range

Issue must have been caused by some legacy setting somewhere within Windows that capped the speed

High 80s to mid 90s speeds suggest that somewhere the ethernet protocol is dropping back to 10/100 rather than 100/1000.  It's not clear from the description if you're running in modem mode, if you are then it points to the cable between hub and your own router?

Hi,

Thank you for your reply, this happens in both Router and modem mode.

In modem mode I have the Hub4 connected via Cat6 to an Asus RT-AC88U, with the Cat5e and Cat6a cables going from that to my devices. But I have also tried the same cables in Router mode connected directly to the Hub4

This is from the ASUS hub, showing that WAN is Gigabit and both PCs connected on 1 and 2 are also gigabit, LAN 3 and 4 are my PS5 and Smart TV respectively
