Broadband download speed issues wired and wireless

I’m on 350MB but now reset the SH3 every day as WiFi download is poor, to the extent I can’t download new emails or the days paper.
The reset does seem to fix the problem temporarily.
is it normal to have to reset every day?

Re: Broadband download speed issues wired and wireless

Does a wired connection continue to work when the wireless doesn’t?

Re: Broadband download speed issues wired and wireless

Generally poor on both. My son is wired for Xbox, I’m using wireless for iPad browsing and laptop for work. As I say, when my iPad struggles to just download email or refresh the Apple news app, we just reset the router again.
We’ve had virgin out before, replaced the sh3.
Connect says WiFi strength ‘good’ but not good enough for video calls etc from where I work.

Wired direct to the hub or via a switch or powerline plug?

Re: Broadband download speed issues wired and wireless

My sons Xbox is wired directly to the hub. The last virgin call out, they replaced the hub and moved it to his bedroom so he could have a wired connection to the hub.
I have a powerline connection which I use to wire the TV.

the virgin Connect WiFi app says my wireless is great!

Re: Broadband download speed issues wired and wireless

What speeds are you actually achieving?

You need to speedtest wired direct to the hub via a machine with a gigabit enabled NIC and not a console.

Re: Broadband download speed issues wired and wireless

Just took a laptop and wired to the hub and achieved just over 350MB!

My son's xbox one x wired download speed is so variable, he sends me screen shots of download speeds as they can be so poor eg 13 May he sent me a screen shot of a speed test showing 8.84 mb download. 25 Jan screen shot of speed test 0.24 mb download.

All wired xbox, sh3 right next to it. New ethernet cable etc.

Re: Broadband download speed issues wired and wireless

Consoles never get accurate or consistent speeds especially when using their built in speed checkers.
