After 24 years, Its time to go,

Fibre optic

With the service getting worse and worse over the last years

the prices going up an up,

I had long chat with "virgin" , wanted a lower rate and a reliable service,

they offered me a "special deal" for 6 months, only twice the current price that a new subscriber is getting for 18 months !

So thank you Virgin, started with NTL world at 64 Kb/s in 1999, which was reliable, now have 350 Mb/s , that may or may not be working, useless for work from home days as its so unreliable.

Amazing virgin cant even pull a fiber through their ducts, but still stick to this evidently  un reliable radio over coax stuff. Promised FTTP in next 7 years !!!!

update

the visit where the "engineer" called and said we needed a business account as we have a switch

hes marked the visit down as our equipment at fault , and charged us 25 quid..

amazing, thetwo guys that came out the next day found the fault in virgin network, but could not fix that , and did not charge us.

motto,

bow down , grovel and worship the engineer that comes, else they will charge you.

Oh, you got one of 'those' VM 'engineers'! You know, the ones who have about as much idea of the technology they are supposed to be supporting as my cat does - and 'Timmo' is not exactly the brightest cat in the world - but still!

You will, naturally contest, the £25 payment, make a formal complaint, and if necessary escalate it to the Ombudsman Service, no? And if it comes to that, add an additional £75 claim for the stress, inconvenience and VM's tech support people being completely useless!

 LOL wth?

1. They couldn't fix the network fault (on their own network).

2. Business account needed if you have a switch?!

3. LOL

Well, thats it ,

move to another provider has happened

I was promised 17th, but last night virgin went off at midnight and today the new provider is working,

wonder if I'll ever get the 25 quid back from the visit where the engineer said I needed a business connection as I had a network switch.  or the un used part of the 85 quid per month that virgin used to charge us ,

but there we go

good luck to those of you on here.

Who did you switch to?
