Virgin Media is holding an anniversary celebration

So I'm wandering around Ebay and my browser suddenly switches to removed somehexdigits/index.html which says:-

Dear Virgin Media Customer, Congratulations!

Virgin Media is holding an anniversary celebration for next 7 days (May.2 -> May.9) to thank your loyalty for using us as Internet Provider.

We will select 10 lucky users everyday to win an exclusive gift from us, including free Apple iPhone 11 Pro, Samsung Galaxy S10, Apple Watch for choosing us. And Your IP address 82.xx.xx.xx has been selected.

You have to simply answer our anonymous survey below to win your prize. Hurry up! 8 users have received this invitation and there are only 2 prizes to win.

It disables the Back button on my browser so all I can do is shut down the tab.

So... scam?  Phishing?  I can't believe Virgin Media would hijack my browser just to offer me an iPhone.

Anyone else experienced this?

Re: Virgin Media is holding an anniversary celebration

I've also had https: eu.bglobalstudies.xyz hijacking my browser (Microsoft Edge).  Bloody nuisance!

Were everything clear your web browsers would not be redirecting you to such websites; consider using Malwarebytes free malware scanner to determine the cause.

Re: Virgin Media is holding an anniversary celebration

I would close the Tab with the scam popup then close the browser, go to task manager & close/stop the browser there, then reopen the browser to see if the popup has gone, if so clear the cookies, history & cache.

If not then scan with Malwarebytes & AdwCleaner.

Also download an Adblocker browser extension like AdGuard &/or Ghostery.

Re: Virgin Media is holding an anniversary celebration

Same thing happened to me; a new tab appears interrupting my browsing with a https://eu.sretailneltd.xyz/... webpage saying I can answer 3 questions to get a prize

then it offers me an iphone11 but gives only 2 and a half minutes to claim it by clicking on a https://www.startrainst.com/offer... link

I did a search for startrainst but couldn't find an useful information
