Received via email is this a SCAM

Hello
To thank you for being part of the Virgin Media family, we’re giving you a broadband speed boost – at no extra cost.
You’ll be moving from M100 to M125 Fibre Broadband, which serves an average download speed of 132Mbps instead of 108Mbps and double the average upload speeds – 20Mbps instead of 10Mbps.
All you need to do is reboot your WiFi Hub on our free Virgin Media Connect app here, or find out how to do it manually here.
To test the new speeds after you’ve rebooted your Hub, head to SamKnows RealSpeed.
Take care,
The Virgin Media team

It's not a scam, it's genuine.

What is a scam is Virgin Broadband in general. I have rebooted my router and initially I got 130 mbps. Great, I thought, but soon after rebooting the speed drops to less than 10 mbps, sometimes as bad as 3 mbps. Typical Virgin. As soon as I can leave them I will. They are hopeless.

If it was a scam they would be asking for some personal information, as it is only informational it's not a scam.

VM did issue a press release regarding the speed increases

https://news.virginmediao2.co.uk/virgin-media-o2-is-boosting-broadband-speeds

There has also been extensive coverage in the press and on various internet sites.

I agree this is not a scam . . . but!
My contract has 6 months to run, at the end I will be asked to pay for the extra speed, which I did not ask for, neither do I actually need.
So, it will be back to bartering time again, happens every 18 months.

You will NOT be asked to pay for the extra speed. It’s the way VM works increasing users speed, in the past they have even doubled the speed without a price increase. I have been with VM and its predecessor companies for many years and my speed has been doubled three times without a price increase.

Wasn't a scam - so speedy. Just took out power plug, plugged it back in and minutes later I was upgraded.

And I tested speeds before and after.

Thank you VM

In one way its not a scam and in another way it is a scam.

Expect your subscription charge to increase in the coming months

I was originally on 100M then it went to 200M and the price hike followed later on Now it gone to 250M cant wait to see what my sub goes up to next.

There is always an annual price increase with all ISPs, that’s the way it works. Trying to link this to a speed increase is nonsense.
