Just received my new router for my new virgin media fibre and got a text to setup my router within 12 hours but my old broadband with talktalk doesn't end till the 10th January. Can i wait till then to avoid early billing?

I would suggest plugging the router in now to ensure that the Virgin Media service works. Would you rather pay for six days of overlapping services, or be left with no Internet service when TalkTalk is switched off?

I'm not convinced delaying the install of the Virgin Hub makes a difference to the start the Virgin Media contract.
What I am quite sure of it is better to have two internet services that are both working for a short overlap period,
than to wait to the very end and discover an unexpected glitch that leaves you with no internet services.

VM's T&Cs potentially allow them to start billing you from the date the equipment is delivered to you for quick start (though I think, in practice, they usually allow a few days post-delivery). So, as per advice from Jonny-M, you should plug in the VM kit and check you can get it all to work OK, and to your satisfaction, while you still have TalkTalk as a fall-back.
