New set up fibre, not connecting

I have received my self install pack today and did everything as requested. 7 hours later still not working. There is just a yellow light on router at all times. 
spoke to someone on live chat and then eventually after that just disappeared I managed to get thru on the phone to a real person. They said it needed to be activated and also a technical fault, that I would receive a text within next 3 hours when it would be sorted. 
2 hours later I get the text saying everything is activated and working, but it still isn’t. Now I’ve been on hold on the phone again for 50 minutes. No answer so far.

Try phoning through to retentions (thinking of leaving us) - those guys are normally really good
