If they sent a quickstart pack then they know there has been a working connection there at some point in the past.
Find your omnibox (brown or white) on the outside wall and trace the incoming cable to where it enters your property. The wakll socket should be on the other end of the "hole". A previous occupant may have concealed it - or decorated over it - or even removed it!
In which case you will need to call in and get the Tech install
