tplink ac5400 + hub 3 in modem mode

Hello,

I put my hub 3 into modem mode, and connected to tplink router - from Port 1 on hub to Internet on router. Except the logo on top of the router is now red - "no internet". I read somewhere that I should put the router into wireless router mode - except on the Advanced / Operation Mode page - there is only Router and Access Point options. Please help.

TIA, James

Re: tplink ac5400 + hub 3 in modem mode

Where do I see that?

Internet connection type- Dynamic IP

IP address 0.0.0.0

Subnet mask 0.0.0.0

Default Gateway 0.0.0.0

Primary DNS 0.0.0.0

Secondary DNS 0.0.0.0

Also MAC Clone is set to

Do NOT Clone MAC address

There is option to Clone Current MAC address, and Use Custom MAC address.

Re: tplink ac5400 + hub 3 in modem mode

Reset your tplink router put hub in modem mode then power off the hub for 2mins power on the tplink router and have it be the only thing connecting to the hub then power on the hub and wait 5mins you should have internet by the tplink router.

Should all this not work and it should then power off the hub with it in modem mode for 2min connect only a PC to the hub and power on you may need to unplug and replug the Ethernet to get internet then log in to your tplink router and use the clone option to copy your PC MAC to your router then connect tplink router to the hub.

Re: tplink ac5400 + hub 3 in modem mode

I reset / disconnect / reboot in various sequences last night and didn't work. I enabled the Clone MAC option this morning (before heading to work) - and it seemed to work. I will check / retry this evening. Thanks for the detail.

Re: tplink ac5400 + hub 3 in modem mode

try setting static ip of tplink router to

Internet connection type- Dynamic IP

IP address 192.168.0.x (not 1)

Subnet mask 255.255.255.0 (255.0.0.0 if using multiple subnets)

Default Gateway 192.168.0.1

Primary DNS 194.168.4.100

Secondary DNS 8.8.8.8

What double NAT why the tplink ac5400 is a router for the hub to be in modem mode.

Re: tplink ac5400 + hub 3 in modem mode

ok leave the tplink in dhcp mode and make sure your ethernet cable goes from the wan of the tplink to the lan closest to vm cable
