internet constantly dropping out and terrible wifi

hi, is it me or is virginmedia wifi terribly unreliable? it constantly drops out and the wifi throughout the house is probably 1/10th of the speed that you ate advertised at getting?

the hub has already got the extra power booster cable going into it (this actually seems like it does nothing) and is directly connected to the incoming wall socket with no other split connections?

Just to clarify the advertised speed is not related to WiFi, it's the speed into the HUB over the VM network.

This site shows the speed to HUB:

https://samknows.com/realspeed/

Depending on your subscription you may have access to WiFi max, however this is still a relativley low speed guarantee (20Mbps).

all well and good getting the speed advertised into the hub but when the equipment is shockingly poor to distribute the wifi signal and keeps dropping out even when sat next to the router then it doesnt create happy customers.

put this onto social media and many people complain and recommend purchasing a third party router to use which will put me out of pocket more as the equipment provided isnt good enough

Hello ShoesU, thanks for posting on our help forum.

We're sorry to hear you're not happy with the wireless network and speeds provided and the issues you've had with connecting over the WiFi, we'd love to best help with this.

As mentioned by carl_pearce above, our advertised speeds refer to the service speeds your hub receives and can be measured by running a speed test over a hard-wired connection (ethernet) directly to the router.

For doing this, you can visit this link here.

Regarding the wireless speeds, we've recently introduced our Wi Fi Max service which also comes with a minimum speed guarantee - view here for more details and how things work as WiFi is a separate in-home network.

This is an add-on service, in case you're experiencing slow wireless speeds we can add this on for you and provide up to 3 Wi Fi intelligent pods that will boost your signal in places it's poor or doesn't reach at all.

Depending on your speed tier, this may be free of charge or at a monthly cost of £8.

Please, have a read and let us know if you wish to learn more or want to add this to your package.

We'll be happy to assist you.
