Wifi connection

Hi, i was recently experiencing an issue with my wifi where by my internet connection would cut out across all devices. Then my router would restart entirely and this would happen perhaps 10 times a day. I had been slotted a visit from an engineer last friday and this did not resolve the issue at all. My router still reboots roughly 10 times a day and its very hard to get any work done. Thank you for any help.

Re: Wifi connection

Are you sure it's rebooting? It could just been losing an internet connection, then re-connecting.

Could you access your router using http://192.168.0.1/ . Don't log in, select the 'Check Router Status' option and paste your 'Downstream', 'Upstream', and 'Network Log' tabs?

We can check from the stats if there is a local issue with your connection.

Re: Wifi connection

no, it is going through the same process that it would be if you were to flip the switch on the back on and off.

Re: Wifi connection

Your upstream power levels on all four channels are at maximum (5.1 which is actually 51 since there is a software error with the HUB 3!).

This could be the cause of the issues you are experiencing and will need investigating further by an engineer.

Re: Wifi connection

I greatly appreciate your help, thank you. What do you mean by 'the power levels are at their maximum'?

Re: Wifi connection

The power levels for the Downstream and Upstream (Download and Upload) channels must be in a specific range for your internet connection to work correctly. Being at the maximum means it can cause problems.

My upload levels as a comparison:

Re: Wifi connection

Also those T3’s in the log can be indicative of noise ingress. The Pre & Post RS error look high, but are accumulative since the hub was last power cycled. Please power cycle your hub and post a new set of stats, including network log, in a few hours time. It is highly unlikely by those figures and no dates of 01/01/1970 in the log that your hub is rebooting, it’s just losing connection to the CMTS and eventually regaining it.
