Re: Poor connection to other TIVO box

Proximity and line of sight are the only 2 things that would boost signal.

Also, I've been informed, don't use 2.4ghz, use 5 where available (but that'd reduce your range).

You could ask Virgin nicely if they'd be kind enough to supply you with some homeplugs, and plug it in that way.

Re: Poor connection to other TIVO box

Well that depends entirely how and where it is connected. You'll need to give much more information before anyone can help.

Re: Poor connection to other TIVO box

The 'other' box is approx 10 metres away separated by 2 walls. The poor connection is relatively recent say within last 1-2 months before that everything was fine in the main. Last night was the worst, can't post photo so basic info is Mode. infrastructure Link status. connected 5ghz Connection speed.13mbps Signal strength. 27% marginal

Re: Poor connection to other TIVO box

You have 3 options

1) Connect the V6's (permanently) to the Hub by Cat6 cable (best)
2) Improve your wifi signal at the location of the V6's (get a wireless access point)
3) Use a pair of powerline adapters (if your house circuitry is suitable)

Re: Poor connection to other TIVO box

2.4GHz is better at penetrating walls than 5GHz.

Homeplugs might be better depending on the wiring.

But an Ethernet cable reigns supreme.

Re: Poor connection to other TIVO box

Thanks Roger, ethernet cable may be the best solution but not really feasible unfortunately, is it possible to change the settings to 2.4ghz on the V6 box? I'll give this a go if it is

Thanks

Raymond

Re: Poor connection to other TIVO box

The V6 supports both 2.4GHz & 5GHz.

It's best (meaning also easiest) to connect the TiVo or V6 nearest the hub by Ethernet cable.
