Intermittent connection

Hello.

installation in March. Non stop intermittent connection issues with all devices. I was on these forums before. Dude said it was a router issue and would get back to me. He didn’t. I just rang tech help and they where as much use as a chocolate fire guard who said I need a booster. Which is nonsense. Can anybody help resolve this?

thanks

Re: Intermittent connection

You talking about wifi connection problems or ethernet cable connected ones - or both?

Re: Intermittent connection

So, are the ethernet connected ones all ok? If you havent got any, put a computer/laptop on a known-good Cat5e/6 ethernet cable and see if that remains connected ok when the wifi ones drop.

If it does, its time to consider ditching the Hub's poor wifi capabilities and getting your own better quality equipment (not boosters!).

Re: Intermittent connection

That's like asking "which car shall I buy?" 🙂

Depends on lots of factors. Size/construction of your property. The ease of running ethernet cable around. Number of devices to be connected. How many on wifi and how many on ethernet? Whether you want better routing features or are happy with that on the Hub.

And last but not least, your budget!

£40 will get you going
£150 is the "sweet spot"
£3-400 for hard core gamers in big rambling stone houses

Re: Intermittent connection

My personal recommendation would be to use a modern mesh system, as said above size of house etc played a huge part and placement etc.

We have a 3 bedroom medium size house, we are on 500mb virgin media broadband and currently using the 2 x Eero Pro.

Take a look on amazon quickly on the Eero systems as they are on sale at the moment, 2 will suit a small house, 2 x Pro will work for a medium home and 3 of the smaller ones or if you have 350-500mb I would go for the Eero pro.

My wifi has been SOLID since the Eero system, speeds not as good as my TP-Link M9, but the M9 had issues of wifi cutting off, sonos playing up, devices not connecting to wifi.

Eero I have just tested and this is what im getting with 2 x Eero pro on wifi (and i also use an 8 way Netgear gigabit switch behind TV for devices hard wired)

Eero Pro Wifi Speeds, average speed on a test from iPad Pro and iPhone
Living room: 420mb
Bedroom with Eero in: 295mb
Bedroom next door to Eero: 195mb
Garden: 75mb

Not had a single glitch since having my Eero.
