Hub 3.0 Reserved IP Addresses Not Showing

Tuning in

I have reserved IP addresses in the "advanced settings">"DCHP" for two Windows 10 PCs in my home network.

The reserved rules appear in the "Reserved list" at the bottom of the DCHP page but the two PCs do not appear in the "Attached devices" list on the same page, despite the two PCs being switched on, working and talking to each other.

Why is this?

Have the MAC addresses changed? I know with Linux, I can use MAC randomisation which, I think - please someone correct me if I'm wrong, will prevent address reservations. I think the address reservation is MAC-based!

On our Hub 3 devices with a Reserved IP (or a static IP) below the DHCP range do not show up on the Connected device list.

If we set a Reserved IP in the DHCP range those are listed as a connected devices.

If you want to use a proper static address for devices it’s far far better to put the address in the device.

what do you mean by "DHCP range". AFAICS only a "Starting local address" is specified in the DHCP page, not a range. My reserved IPs are at or above that. Neither shows in the list.

I may be chatting garbage - please ignore me if I am:

I think the range goes up from the starting address to xx.xx.xx.255

You can set a device up to have an address before the starting address

How and why would the MAC addresses have changed? I assume it is locked into the hardware's firmware. In any event, no I know of no way in which this could have happened.

As @Tudor said above, the proper way is to set the IP addresses in the PCs instead of DHCP.  The router will use them.

Most modern devices use can MAC randomisation. It was on by default on my Android phone and my Linux laptop.

Would you set it below the starting address for the DHCP server(?) to prevent any potential clashes down the line if the lease expired when the device was offline?
