Re: Frequent '10 minute' outages in CB245*

VM broadband just gone down again and the VM TV didn't miss a beat.

I’ve got the full monty and the outage has not affected live tv services or my phone. The V360 box displays a message when it loses internet connectivity though.

Re: Frequent '10 minute' outages in CB245*

The good news is that they detected one of the errors this afternoon. 👏

The error is 'return path' from the junction box to the data centre so it is a case of swapping out bits of kit in the data centre until they stop getting called out for this going down.

They are still saying end of the week for a fix as they don't know which is the problem piece of kit and it is now just a process of elimination 🤞 (sods law it will be the last bit of kit they change)

Re: Frequent '10 minute' outages in CB245*

While I'm no cable network technician, if the whole neighbourhood has been experiencing the same T3 and T4 errors indicating an upstream connectivity issue with the CMTS, you would have thought that testing/monitoring the main upstream/return path to the head end/CMTS would be the first troubleshooting step.

I'm also amazed the VM doesn't have monitoring in place to detect faults, perform trend analysis, predict failures etc with its major infrastructure components.

Well, even by recent standards this is a long outage today!

Re: Frequent '10 minute' outages in CB245*

Long outage this morning was due to VM working on the cab by the primary school and swapping out some kit to try and resolve the issue.

Re: Frequent '10 minute' outages in CB245*

Now we just have to wait 72 hours to see if this new equipment has resolved the issue. 🤞

I'm guessing the 3 overnight outages last night was the final straw for the on-call engineer as whatever the issue was caused a bigger issue as there is finally a service status update for something going wrong.

ps As they are swapping all the kit out we should have asked them to upgrade it so that we can get the Gig1 service 😉

Re: Frequent '10 minute' outages in CB245*

Looking promising 🤞

I haven't seen any outages since the long one between at 10.40 and 11.35 on 16th Feb.

Could they have cracked it?

Re: Frequent '10 minute' outages in CB245*

I received an email this morning indicating that the problem is fixed 🎉

It certainly seems much more solid than it has been for the last 3 week.  No packet loss detected in the last 35hrs 🤞

Thanks everyone for contributing to this fix!
