SIM only - is the monthly charge (not usage) paid in advance?

I need to check whether the SIM only monthly charge - i.e. the set amount for having the SIM - is paid in advance at the start, or paid retrospectively each month.

My understanding is that the first amount paid is for an upcoming month's contract.

The second bill would then have two components - any over-allowance costs, and the next upcoming month's contract.

Is that correct?

If so, a final bill would only include any over-allowance costs and not another upcoming month's contract. Is that correct?

Thanks

Re: SIM only - is the monthly charge (not usage) paid in advance?

Hi Yearofthegoat,

You're indeed correct.

You'd be billed within the first week of your new SIM deal and the payment would go out around 14 days later, this will be your set bill and payment dates for your account unless you request to change your billing dates.

Any usage would indeed be added onto your next month's bill. Your final bill will only be over-allowance costs because with mobile it takes into account cancellation requests on your next bill.

Thanks,

Tom_S

Thanks.

In that case I've been overcharged a month in my final bill.

Have you had a look on the bill breakdown?

Re: SIM only - is the monthly charge (not usage) paid in advance?

It doesn't clarify what should be paid when.

I gave 30 days' notice 25th February so I  don't think I should be debited in April. At all.

Hi Yearofthegoat,

Very sorry to hear this.

What date did your services fully disconnect and when was your latest bill produced?

Thanks

Sorry, I was told by Virgin that there was nothing you could do to keep my business, so I went with Smarty SIM only and got a great deal.

I am with Smarty too as well as VM - I got the Unlimited lifetime £18.75 deal - seems to be okay but I have noticed Three has capacity issues here - EE does not
